The first one hurts. You'll have plenty more. Not worth starting a fight over - trucks come and go, family doesn't.

Man your last story reminds me of my dad years ago. He had just bought a 2009 Camry brand new as he had to commute into Boston. All of us kids and my mom are in the slider door at the house looking out at the back driveway. Suddenly he literally backed into the side of the camper. Tore down the side of the new freaking car.Oh man…. I feel this.
Two quick stories.
A friend backed his Jeep into my Jeep. I did not see it but he told me about it. Initially, it did not look like ANY damage but actually it was pretty bad. Fortunately I was able to fix it with PDR and by re-aligning the door. Cost me about $250. Not a huge amount but still…. He offered to pay and asked how much. I refused and never told him or anyone else in the group what it cost. I also never mentioned it again. I was afraid the $250 might be an issue in the future for our friendship and it was not worth it to me.
I also bought my F150 in June of 24 and try to take exceptionally good care of it. I park as far away from everyone as I can. I, me, all by myself hit a pole and smashed up the passenger side. TALK ABOUT PISSED!!!!!!! I was furious at me and the whole situation. But…. I got it fixed. Yes, it cost $2,000 but it looks like new again and I have moved on.
Those are two very small marks. If you pay to fix them, there’s a great chance that something else will happen in the future so….
OP parked a foot in front of someone with “mental growth issues” on a grade that required a parking brake.Man, I gotta be honest, this reads like you're a bit of a dick. It's a very tiny bump on a plastic part. You seemingly needing to point out that everyone is easy on him because of some undisclosed "mental growth issue" is even more outrageous. It's a vehicle, with damage that's not even as bad as accidentally loading a 2x4 wrong. The fact that you managed to make a scene large enough for a lot of family to come out is already not a good look. I would tell you to drop the whole thing and chuck it up to shit happens but something tells me you won't let it go.
If that's what you read then maybe you are the dick. This is a large investment that I made after 18 years and have been maintaining it very carefully. This is also my first largest purchase and my first truck purchase. So any damage to it is sentimental. You should stop being so judgemental.Man, I gotta be honest, this reads like you're a bit of a dick. It's a very tiny bump on a plastic part. Maybe read the post again as to why I parked there. It was to give people the ability to enter the driveway easily. The truck behind me had sufficient space to back up.OP parked a foot in front of someone with “mental growth issues” on a grade that required a parking brake.
I hope they’re not hear looking for validation in getting reimbursed from the person who hit them, but something tells me you’re right.
Yes. Just the sentimental value of a new vehicle purchase after 17 years and a first truck. The tiny marks in the plastic aren’t something worth making a big deal about let alone throwing a fit in front of your family.
It’s a truck. Let it go.
Sure but you’ve had it for a year.Yes. Just the sentimental value of a new vehicle purchase after 17 years and a first truck.
And there were zero other places to park?Maybe read the post again as to why I parked there. It was to give people the ability to enter the driveway easily. The truck behind me had sufficient space to back up.
My man, you posted on an open internet forum. What did you expect to happen? If that's what you read then maybe you are the dick. Correct. No other place to park. Driveway was full. About four families and five cars were parked. And there were zero other places to park?
Is their truck manual? Heck, I’ve had my F150 shift several inches on a grade when already in drive, you knowingly parked 12 inches in front of someone you claim has “mental growth issues” on the downhill side of a grade that required a parking brake.
Do you park next to clapped at Nissans at Walmart with missing body panels too?
