21 F150 Limited - in for service and there were two recalls on my FordPass. A few things I wanted the technician to check: In reverse I get the "reverse brake assist not available check owners manual" - service advised this is because I have a leveling kit (I bought truck used, didn't realize it had it). Is there any truth to that? Second - they found a very small front engine seal leak. My premium Care ESP states seals and gaskets right on the brochure, but service advised since there was no technical part number it could not be turned in for warranty. Again, any truth to that? Or should this be covered? Lastly - something seems off on my "unleashed" sound system. The passenger door speaker rattles a lot (Not sure if it's blown)- but the biggest issue is it seems like all of the highs are coming from the front and front center channel. If I move the adjustment to back speakers, there's no highs, just bass. Is this normal? And is there maybe an update to the software of the sound system?

How bad is the seal leak? Is it enough of an issue to warrant all the work and hassle, even if it is covered?

Maybe try a different dealer? It seems odd that they don’t want to try harder for the work.

On my truck before last, the dealer tried to find everything they could wrong. They get paid more for the ford esp rate than the shop rate they charge the public. That was a few years ago so things might have changed.

Heck, the service manager was cool with tunes etc.

Time to find another dealer. If there is a leak, it gets submitted...if you have ESP it should be covered.

That dealers trying to blow smoke up your ass. There, sure as hell is a part number or a technical name for a damn seal or a gasket. That service writer is a complete absolute moron.

Not sure if this is the case or not, but for my wife's Jeep, I have been given every excuse under the sun for warranty work. After further investigation, it seems to be the result of the few remaining techs not interested in being screwed on both warranty rates as well as reduced repair time. The warranty rate is a set number, but out of greed, many dealers are reducing repair times they will pay to technicians as well.

The dealership you are dealing with sounds terrible. It is possible that the addition of the level kit will require an adjustment or calibration. Mine did not. You may have already seen this thread, but this thread could be helpful if not.

Reverse Brake Assist Not Available

Leaks are definitely covered. I had a small transmission leak from a seal and there was not question as to whether it would be covered, and I would get any leaks fixed unless it was extremely minor. When looking at a used vehicle, I would think that if the owner didn't care to fix leaks, would they care to do maintenance. Obviously, this isn't certain, but I would question it.

There have been a few updates to the sound system. Mine does not sound like what you describe.

Thanks everyone for the response! I’m going to take it to another ford garage. I was just confused when the ford premium care states “seals and gaskets”
I did get them to do the audio software update which made a MAJOR change. I will see what the other dealership says and try to dig a little deeper on the reverse brake system to see if it needed calibrated or something? Didn’t want to take the level kit off as it looks pretty nice. The service person did say that it’s possible some things may not be covered since I have the leveling kit on it.
thanks again everyone!
