I I have a 2021 F150 FX max tow package powerboost. Put on fox 2.0 coil overs. Supposed to level the vehicle. Only received about 1 inch of height?

Is the top collar adjusted to maximum height on the threaded tube?
I just installed mine as well. Got about the same 1". They're adjusted to "best performance" rather than to "level". You can get 2" out of them max, but you need to adjust them.

It has maybe an extra half inch. However that doesn’t level the truck even if I take it to the top. To do that you actually have to take the coilover back off the truck and put it in a spring compressor to move the collar. my other concern was my new fox 2.0 rear shock is 3 inches shorter than my stock shock. Don’t know if that even makes a difference but it was strange

I’m wondering if it’s worth the effort. The truck rides great wondering if I max the spring out if you had a ride stiffer?

Thanks for the reply. I understand they are adjusted to best performance. That’s where I wanna be. I think I’m just gonna leave it.

I would imagine there’s more folks out there with the 2021 FX max tow package that are concerned about only getting 1 inch left? It might just be standard for that truck fox 2.0 coilover for best performance. However it’s a little misleading that you’re going to level your truck and still get the best performance when you read all the info from Fox and stage3. However like I mentioned prior I love them and they improve my overall Ride. Doesn’t seem to have as much body roll.

Any comments concerning the rear fox 2.0 being 3 inches shorter than the stock shock on the 2021? Fox told me they’re valving shaft etc. makes up for that difference.

I would bet most that pay for the max tow are not leveling their trucks.

Level plus tow is not a good mix

That’s probably why it’s not level. It has a 2 inch capability to level my vehicle. Preset to come up 1 inch out of the box. II was told the shock comes preset at best performance. The performance is great. Probably not going to extend it shock any further due to towing. Fox indicates my towing will be much better. If it’s half as good as daily driving I’ll be very happy plus that’ll be 50% better than it rode prior to the coilover front and rear shock change

I think that guys with max tow are leveling there trucks referncing other ford site lol. I was just confused why it only came up an inch and not 2” when bolted directly in.

As you buy more and more non OEM parts, you will begin to learn why nearly all aftermarket parts give and take something to provide the desired outcome. Since the payload of an F150 can range from 1100 lbs to 2000+ Lbs depending on trim and options, you expect that a 2 inch level/lift is going to provide different final heights depending on whether you have a stripped XL or a maxed Limited.

You can also bank on your OEM quality and OEM lifespan to go bye bye when you install aftermarket parts.

There have been so many aftermarket parts installed and used on my vehicles, and half the time I realize why Ford designed it with their OEM ways vs the skimpy aftermarket junk, and then revert that portion back to OEM parts.

Im sure there was an * somewhere, letting you know your results will vary depending on trim.

At least with my max tow truck my rear was 2.5 inches higher. Installed a RAS HD kit and it's about 3.5 inches higher now (at 1mm tension setting)

With a 6-7k loaded travel trailer my rear ends up only 1 inch higher (and I could still tension the RAS higher...)

So putting a 2 inch level on a truck and towing significant weight it is definitely going to be nose high (without adding extra support with air bags, RAS, etc). Since you mentioned you may be towing I think it's best to stick with the 1" and be happy with the improved performance.

Are you using your old springs or did the coil-overs come loaded with aftermarket springs?

I believe that the front coil spring rate is higher for the PB trucks. The PB has a higher front GAWR than even the HDPP trucks which also share the same Max Tow rear axle but with a higher spring rate and rear GAWR. It’s possible that the rear axle has more travel on the Max Tow, resulting in the shock length disparity. Somewhere, there’s a table with all the spring rates for the different configurations.

If you are losing 3” of rear shock travel, that could be bad at full extension, since the shock and shock mount isn’t designed for holding the weight of the axle and wheels/tires. It’s even worse if you are losing travel in compression, since every time you hit a big bump the shock can be battering the shock mounts, instead of the rubber jounce bumpers which are designed to be where your suspension bottoms out.

What’s the difference in rear shock length fully compressed?

Loaded fox 2.0 coil overs. They have the springs adjusted and are supposed to be ready to go. I finally got the truck on the road and there are some issues. Feels like there’s limited role which is good however the truck hits harder. I have stage three and fox looking into the situation.
