Wow I hope that you can find help with this and admire your courage!
Can I ask what model year was this a F-150 and how many miles were on the original transmission?

I own a trans shop and have rebuilt a lot of them, Very comman to get bad valve bodys from ford, When I rebuild them I dont replace the v/b I install a sonnaxs zip kit in the original one, It will take a lot of driving to get them to relean

A couple of thing would be to see if fluid drops when you start it , The little gasket(seal ) that goes
on the v/b between v/b and case can fall off or missed will cause no engagment,

Dumb suggestion maybe, but did you check the emergency parking brake release system? Disengages the transmission.

Not sure how you figure this, parking brake just holds truck from moving. Transmission is in gear. Brake holds truck.

Me?
I'm just thinking that the one emergency lever under the steering wheel not only mechanically disengages the parking brake, it also puts the transmission in neutral. Just wondering if the transmission is actually rebuilt perfectly, but maybe this one mechanism isn't lined up where it should be or something.
  1. Your vehicle remains in neutral (N) for emergency towing purposes.

Have you scanned the vehicle for DTCs? Did you enter the new Solenoid Body Strategy when the valve body was replaced or did you just reprogram the PCM? If you look at the live data with a scan tool, does your transmission have good line pressure?

Thank you for this info. I pulled the valve body out today and sure enough that seal was missing. Luckily the rebuild kit i have had one in it so i put it in and stuck vb back in. But ran out of time for finish so next few days ill try to get it together and try it out
