I was trying to update the apim.
I'm getting service vehicle soon
System shift fault l
Now the truck won't start. Says I need to shift to park to start.
Service Advanced track

Also I keep getting the apim update message on the screen to turn off truck, wait ten min and start. Apparently the apim update is still running.


I swear if I get this truck running I won't mess with it again.
I need help in many ways.

No. The truck says to shift to park. It is.
The gsw gear shift module test good.
Unless the truck thinks it's in park it won't start.
The pcm reports dtc"s. On if them says invalid data from gear shift control module A

I can't figure out how to move the gear shift lever. Pressing on brake won't release it.

Here is something new. I tried to rerun the ipma update. When it started it came back with an error that said I have poor battery condition. State of charge 12% needs 50% I have a 40amp charger on it. Always had . I have cables attached to the battery terminals. Not the battery monitor cable. It should read over 12 volts?

My biggest problem now is I can't get it out of park. I need to move it out of the way to get my other truck out.
I can't get the battery to even take a charge even with a big 40 Amp battery charger attached.

I can't find anything on line about manually moving the gear shif

I'm sorry and disappointed i didn't see your offer last night . I stopped working on it and had to finish the brakes on my 2016. I needed a truck today. I finally got the hybrid moved by putting it on casters.
Piping in with little to no experience here, but if you're charging directly to the negative battery post, the truck won't 'see' the charge.
I never thought about that. Thanks.
Page 288 of the manual tells how to manually release the shifter.
Is the manual available in fdrs?

Sorry, it's pg 267-269 for your year (mine is a 2021). You should have a manual on your truck in the menu on the screen. Also, you can download the whole thing in PDF from here

If you have the trickle charger connected properly and it's truly not taking a charge just pull the battery out of the truck that's blocked and put it into this truck for 5 seconds that will tell you if it's truly a battery problem or something else.
Actually I just read you put the truck up on casters to move it over. I would have just swapped batteries

I work in IT, I deal with computers all day long. There are days I think I should start to explore making changes to my truck beyond the very basic items I have switched up in Forscan. Then I read a thread like this....

Maybe its because I spend all day fixing broken computers, maybe I am just lazy, but to me personally the benefit of making changes to the truck software are far outweighed by the headache they could cause.

I want my truck to start, to drive places, you know truck things. Dealing w/ not being able to shift out of park because I was trying to mess /w software code just doesn't seem fun.

But to each their own I suppose. Good luck.
