Thanks for the helpful responses. ?
Not sure why the sarcasm. No, it did not address your specific question (perhaps because they don't have the answer) but their response/question was legit and polite, a curiosity that many have, not because it can't be beneficial to you but because of the "cheaply made" feeling that most owners have towards it and the numerous reports of failures.

My wish would be that when Ford looks to reduce 2000+ different parts from the assembly of the F-150 they could take this over engineered antique and streamline it with a push button or rotary shifter. This alone might shave off a hundred parts. :)
NO, no and NO to rotary shifter ?. Can't stand rotary shifters.
Call me crazy - I shelved any thought, even miniscule, about RAM just because it has rotary shifter. Yeah, I know it's coming to all vehicles soon, just trying to avoid it while I can :giggle:

Short answer, no. sorry

The folding shifter is the most gimmicky garbage ford has put in the cab in a while.
Except that it's a needed function for the fold down work station.

Unfortunately they didn't let you keep that in a sport package. I don't hate the console shifters you still get a little cubby with the new design but the column is just the king of it all .
I opted for the 302a with chrome package even though I really wanted the sport...to get the column shifter. There's no good reason to ever put a console shifter in a truck. Look at the F250 and up...it's not even an option, because it's ridiculous. Don't get me started on rotary shifters and buttons. Try plowing snow with a push button shifter you'll pull your hair out.

EDIT: OP, there are many things j believe should be automatable in these trucks that can't be. I understand your frustration.

Yea i dont mind it too much on my 22' but if i was using my truck for actual truck duties on the regular id 100% go for the column shifter.

Fascinating. The most efficient configuration for plowing would be a console shifter that could add-on plow control buttons in a HOTAS configuration where the left hand never leaves the wheel and the right hand never leaves the shifter.

I've had console trucks since 2008 and wouldn't have it any other way.

My plow truck is a medium duty GMC with an Allison trans. It has a push button shifter and lever operated plow controls. I dearly miss my previous 6 speed manual GMC. After many hours plowing in a storm having actual handles and levers>electronic controls. To quote Frank Drebin "Like a blind man at an orgy, I was going to have to feel things out" YMMV though

I bought an XL STX for this very reason. No amount of leather is worth having a rattling piece of junk in the cab. Auto shifter was an absolute deal breaker for me.

I think this thread really gives credit to Ford for allowing options. Some like the console shifter and others like the column shifter. My personal preference is the column; however, not available on Platinums. That being said, my 2017 never rattled nor has my stowable on my 2022. My sunroof never leaked, rattled or broke on both models. My 3.5 EB and Powerboost have been flawless. To generalize an issue across the board when few have issues is rarely the norm. One thing for sure, I have never owned a vehicle that had a quieter interior as my last 2 F150s Platinums. These trucks are amazing with the extra sound proofing on the higher end models.

I have no problem with the console or column shifter on my 2023/2014 F150; but to avoid the whole "stow the shifter thing" they could rip off the Honda pilot. You have a series of buttons on the console, with enough texture that you can figure out PRND by feel; and it would be flat enough to just fold the work surface right on top of it.

I didn't liked a rotary shifter when I drove a car with one, but maybe it was just because I wasn't used to it.
