I doubt you'll still get 23 mpg while using winter blend fuel and heater running.
True, but you will get a whole lot more power with the ice cold air going over the intercooler. Combined with colder tires and it's much more of a spectacle when putting the pedal to the floor.

My mach-e despite having a nearly 50% power delta to the rear wheels will happily spin the front tires as it sends my glasses flying into the rear seat.

Only "hit it" a couple of times since I got it (only had it for the weekend and wanted to take it easy at first).

Now it's back in to finish its accessories (spray liner, undercoat, tonneau, etc.). Picking it up again before the weekend, this time forever.

I'll have to try a real "stomp on it" where I'm not wildly over the speed limit too quickly!

"Officer, just bought this truck and guys on the forum told me it was a powerhouse - just trying it out" - not sure that would work.

If it's doing this in normal mode then use Forscan and reset the transmission adaptive tables. Afterwards drive it around on city streets calmly for about 20 minutes for it to reset the base tables. It will continue to adapt to your driving style over the next 250 miles and should settle down with the harsh shifting.
Be warned, when you reset those tables, the truck is going to shift very badly for a while until it relearns. Mine eventually ended up driving better than it did new, but the first time I came to a stop it chirped the tires on the 4-3 downshift lol. Yes, the downshift, coming to a stop. It was pretty violent.

Actually I only use Costco top tier 93 octane. The 23 mpg is for the life of the truck which includes last winter. It will definitely decrease as it already has. 21-23 is more typical when it is cold. In the Summer I’m getting 24-26 on my daily commute which is about 40 miles total per day.

Sigh....

Wish mine knew what 2nd gear was. It all but refuses to use that gear instead doing a 1-3 skip shift even on Sport mode.
My 2020 did the 1-3 unless I really laid into it. My 2022 (regular 3.5) almost always goes 1-2-3 unless I'm accelerating very slowly.

This^. The 2017-2020 were programmed awful. Programming is greatly improved on 2021+. I wish they engine braked in "Normal" a little more aggressively, but other than that, no complaints.

Just had a similar experience to OP. Had a couple of buddies in town last week and obviously had to back up all my praise of the truck with some action. Put it in sport and floored it up a long steep hill, and it was all hoots and hollering by the time we hit 100mph in no time at the top of the hill. Love this thing.

Yep
Technical service bulletin. It was to address the bucking while going uphill. They reprogrammed the tranny and set the “learning” tables.
and did that fix the bucking and jumping at steady cruise?

For most of my daily driving with my 21 Lariat PB, I pretty much go with the flow, and try maximize my MPG. However my need for speed sometimes overcomes my practicality. Yesterday was one of those moments. For the first time in quite a while, I popped it into sport and laid right into it! Hang onto your hat kids because this bad boy means business!
for the first time some my last TSB update (that totally transformed my driving experience in a good way) I gave it all it has. This beast of a truck pinned me in my seat and brought a grin from ear to ear. And all of this from a truck that has a lifetime 23 mpg.
the best of both worlds.
23mpg lifetime. I'm guessing you don't do much heavy hauling or towing.
I have a 22 PB CCSB 4wd that I trade in a 2019 F250 CC Diesel to get.
I brought my 28' enclosed trailer (trailer is 7' tall, probably @7500-8k on this trip) home with toys in it last week and averaged @ 8.5 mpg coming down from NH through the mountains. It def put a dent in the lifetime average.
I can easily get 21-23 empty, but even my smaller trailers and a towable lift will get it down to 12-16 mpg.
I'm not complaining, just stating fact. It pulls the stuff easily, handles ok (I will likely put bags on it), gets great mpg for what it is, rides awesome.....Ecoboost are great, but the Eco AND the Boost do not work out together, hahaha.

Yes it did. It also resulted in a little les mpg. I am not sure how much the cold is contributing as well, but it has gone down a little.
To the other poster, no I have not towed anything with it yet. I will be in the near future, but a very good point nonetheless.

Haha, I only use 93 octane with JB4 stage 2 and price was below $3 per gallon.

2021 - 5.0 SCREW Lariat. I dont even touch the gas at a stop sign and its in 3rd gear before even getting to 3mph. Its wild. Sometimes I just hang on and let it do its thing because some days it doesnt like some of its gears.

Meanwhile Im over here resetting my adaptive tables to make it shift better. Mine shifts like dogcrap after it "learns", I enjoy the drive after i have reset them...temporarily
