Couldn’t really find much discussion on this topic. Pakmule has done an exceptional job of ad targeting me on instagram the last few months. We have a 3.5 and 2 year old, our ‘24 501A PB fills up quick for camping and road trips, especially if I want the tonneau closed. A solution like theirs looks compelling.

Anyone has experience with a hitch mounted cargo carrier and Pakmule or any other brands? I like the Scout model with 4” riser, both for clearance and I have dual exhaust. I’d prefer platform to a box. Not looking for additional racks or mount systems like an overland rig.

Pakmule isn’t cheap. Very aware of cheaper Amazon / HF options. Would prefer to buy from an American small business, so I’m ok paying premium. Other similar brand recs welcomed!

I have a Hitch-hall that I bought 10 years ago to use with my Jeep. They are handy and do expand your capacity, I normally carry a cooler and storage tub on my carrier. While pricy the Pakmule looks like a very well made unite.

We took a trip to Tennessee in my wife’s explorer about 5 years ago. It was so nice to have. We just out stuff back there that could get wet just in case. We had a 500 pound capacity and didn’t come close to half of that. Bought it used for 75 bucks. Still have it and have lent to other for extra cargo capacity.

I've used similar on our Class B when we had it but never felt the need with a truck.

That looks like a nice one.

I have been using a Curt brand the past 5 years or so. I used it on my 2004 F-150 first and now use it on my 2024. I bought it because I needed more space when I'm tent camping. And it's worked well and has the light kit. I bought it from e trailer.

I'll be picking up a cargo trailer to do a light conversion on for camping so I won't need this as much anymore for camping. But it is very handy and has worked well for me.

I have the one pictured below that I've used for 2,500 miles and have the following thoughts.
Great for carrying liquids and combustables such as fuel that you wouldn't want to leak inside an enclosed space.
Really like having the side panels as I can load 3 reasonably sized plastic tote boxes without the need for tie downs or worry about things bouncing off the carrier. The sides fold in for easy storage when not in use.
The hitch stabilizer noticeably reduces rattling. This one is pretty basic but there are many other styles available.
I added a carrier light package for brake and turn signals that plugs into the 4 prong connector. Good for visibility, safety and also lets the vehicle know so the rear proximity sensors don't go nuts.
If buying another carrier I would look for one that folds up. When I reach my destination I empty the carrier. It would be nice to keep the carrier mounted but not have that extra few feet sticking out.

I had one of these curt models. Worked great if you run out of room otherwise.

I agree, for the price and then adding the four pin light kit... Has served me very well.
