I think it is great when people have a passion about something and use their resources to fullfil their dreams. Goals, passions, hobbies, or whatever they want to call it. Those hobbies could be anything. If you don't like a specific hobby for any reason their is no need to post negatively about it. Just ignore it. If you don't enjoy WhistlingDiesels hobby don't watch his videos.

I would definitely modify my truck if I had the means to do so. So I think it is awesome when others can.

We should all stop slamming others for differences in opinions and be happy for each other.

If you aren't street racing or making poison for your hobby, then do whatever makes you happy.

Hell yeah. Not sure about the machining on the impeller though or the red anodizing.

The machining appears to be CNC production from billet. The 20º sweep back on the blade tips is good for higher pressure rise. Clear anodizing is relatively common on aerospace centrifugal impellers and works well to prevent corrosion and erosion. Not so common on automotive units. This one just has red dye. In real world terms, one might not notice a clear anodized unit.

The staggered blade pattern is good for reduced airflow drag, and the grooved surface finish might change the surge or stall point a little. But it certainly will help with heat transfer.

Stock Coyote can handle a lot of boost before you need to modifiy/replace stock parts. If memory serves, can go to 18 lbs before cylinder liner needs upgraded.

This is why the coyote is much better than a LS. Dont need to spend anything on a stock motor to get serious HP. Just add turbo/blower with tune and done.

LS? New cam. New heads. New exhaust, new pistons, then add boost and tune. Stock wont get you into the serious HP range. And dont waste time with the 5.3. Gotta go 6.2.
I can tell you don't have a lot, or any LS experience if you think a 5.3 is a waste of time, and that the 6.2 is the hot ticket. lol

Just about every single thing he said about the ls engine is factually wrong. Should we tell him about Jack Roberts (squirrel tuned)?

One of the craziest things about this forum is the idea that if you don't 100% agree with, or buy into one person's line of thinking is that you're "hating or slamming or whatever" their idea.

Have plenty. I think LS are hot garbage. Just making the point the 5.3 is anemic stock and requires a crap load of aftermarket amd labor to compare against the coyote. This is why you always see the 6.2 being compared agianst the coyote online....need all those extra cubes to compare against the better design.

Just replaced the crap 5.3 LS in my sons z28. Another freakin "LS knock" failure. This #2 with same issue.

Sounds like you're doing something wrong with that jalopy Z28.

The only reason someone puts an stock 5.3 where an LS1 is supposed to be is because it's cheaper. What other corners were cut? Might want to start looking there for your "LS knock" problem.

Literally every size of ls made, from 4.8 to 6.2, has been pushed to or over 1000 hp with absolutely stock original internals with turbocharging. You previously said they required all sorts of aftermarket stuff to make much power. You were wrong. The internet is literally stuffed with examples of that wrongness. The guy I mentioned earlier, Jack Roberts, has a stock bottom end 4.8 that's running in the 7's in the 1/4 mile. He has been beating on this particular motor for YEARS. By stock, I mean stock original block, crank, BEARINGS, pistons, and UNREGAPPED PISTON RINGS. But yes, please tell us more about how "LS? New cam. New heads. New exhaust, new pistons, then add boost and tune. Stock wont get you into the serious HP range. And dont waste time with the 5.3. Gotta go 6.2."
Jack Roberts is admittedly unusual-he owns a tuning shop and knows his stuff better than the average guy. But don't worry, you can still take you pick from the other hundreds or thousands of videos of guys breaking 1000 hp with literal junkyard ls's. Now, none of this is to take credit from the coyote-guys make tons of power with those in stock bottom end form all the time. Hell, my daily driver has a coyote and I plan to eventually put a blower on it. But to say the ls can't make serious power without a bunch of aftermarket parts is silly.

People get 1000 hp and more out of stock unrebuilt ls's all the time, including with stock UNPORTED heads. Just takes boost, and regap the piston rings. Don't need new ones, just put them back on the pistons. You can make 1000 and more with a 4.8. I like coyotes as much as the next guy, but what you said about ls engines is so far from true it's ridiculous.
I think that your point is valid, but I would point out that running 1000 HP on ANY stock engine is just waiting for the kaboom such that a full rebuild at the outset is likely the more cost-effective option. I have this fantasy of actually doing that with my PB powertrain some day in a classic Mustang body....but it would be a full, bottom up rebuild.

Maybe, maybe not. A well-tuned stock bottom end (sbe) LS is actually NOT really a ticking time bomb. No, it won't last forever, but generally they'll last a few years at least. In any case, the other guy was saying they won't make good power without a bunch of stuff replaced, and that's just nonsense. Literally anybody with the slightest ability to search the internet can find countless examples of sbe ls motors making tons of power, both in cars at the track and on the dyno, and surviving. In fact, that guy I mentioned, Jack Roberts, said in an interview that he got tired of hearing coyote guys complain about the displacement advantage ls motors have so he purposely chose a 4.8 to run. He never expected it to last as long as it has, or run as quick as it has. He's just one example of countless, but he's a good one because he holds the sbe 4.8 record.

I think that's fair, and it points to a subjective difference in expectation for longevity. For a hotrodded Mustang engine that spends time on the strip and track, a few years between 'splosions is great longevity. For an F150, it's horrible. I won't say that either definition is wrong, just context specific.

Indeed -- the margin for error is greatly diminished at higher power levels and trying to run the bleeding edge for truck things is just dumb. When towing, you don't want bleeding edge. 1/4 miles runs are easy vs dragging something up a slope.

Right, but the conversation I was engaged in had nothing to do with any "normal" use.
