So I did the swap on my XLT about a week ago. Easy enough to do with the power connector already behind the sccm. One issue I may have is that it seems to have a hotspot around the lower right hand spoke of the wheel. It feels like it gets much hotter there than anywhere else on the wheel. I'm wondering if this is the same for anyone else or if I have a bad wheel?
A little late answering this but there is no issue. The right spoke is where the wires start and end from the center of the wheel. The heat strip starts and stops there and overlap a bit. Pic attached.

I would go back into forscan and see if you accidentally enabled courtesy wipe there. I can't think of anything else that would cause that. Did you use easy mode or as built mode when you made the changes?

I used easy mode. I will check again to make sure.
If you find that courtesy wipe is not enabled in easy mode, I would try reverting back to your previous settings, save a backup then make the required changes in as built mode.

I added a heated steering wheel back in November and posted about it here. In February it quit working with a DTC that there was an electronic failure in the SCCM. I sent it back to Tasca (where I bought it from) since the part supposedly had a one year warranty. It took several weeks, but they won't warranty it because it's "incompatible with my vehicle." Now I need to buy a new one, but it looks like they've gone up about $100 since I bought it. Any advice on where to get a new one? And is there any way to ensure the next one would be covered under the one year warranty if it dies again?

Have you tried LKQ for a salvaged wheel? Not sure about warranty but often you can find one off a newer truck where someone unfortunately had some bad luck. That’s what I did when I added the heated wheel. Wishing you luck on finding what you need for your MOD.

I had the same situation with varsity ford parts. I purchased the rain sensor to add that to my truck for auto wipers. Got a bad one and they wouldn’t warranty it because I gave them my actual vin which showed my truck didn’t have the rain sensor when it left the factory. I had varsity ford send me the bad sensor back; probably because I thought I was sticking it to them at the time. It was recent enough I was able to file a claim with my credit card company and got my money back anyway.
Bottom line, ford only warranties parts if your vin shows that part number was on your truck when it left the factory.
Lesson learned, send the vin from a vehicle that had that part… haha

They are $180 new. You mentioned you bought yours for $100 less so for $80 or so so figured eBay would work for you.
I bought mine for $202. Now everywhere I look they are $280+. Where are you seeing them for $180?

For clarification I'm referring to the entire SCCM assembly, not just a clock spring. I have an XLT so I had to install the whole assembly. The problem I have now is I don't know which part of it has failed, the clock spring, or the housing it attaches to. I guess I could get just a clock spring and see if that resolves the issue.

Update on my failed heated wheel. I've now replaced the SCCM (both the SCCM and the clock spring) and verified all settings are correct, but it still doesn't work. I reset all DTC's, cranked the truck and let it run a couple of minutes, shut it down and reconnected Forscan. I'm still getting the same failure code I got with the original SCCM (see pic). I reused my turn signal stalk, but I doubt that's the problem. I can only think of two possibilities at this point:
1. For some reason my truck is frying SCCM's
or
2. The steering wheel itself is the problem.

Has anyone got any other ideas? I hate to buy a new wheel just to troubleshoot.

Could I remove the wheel and check the voltage at the plug where the wheel plugs into the SCCM?

Just a suggestion - try disconnecting the steering wheel heating element plug from the SCCM, turn the heating wheel button on and see if you have voltage at the pin connector.
