Hey guys, first let me say I know the answer to this is in this thread, I honestly just can't find it again. Apologies for that.

I have a '23 502a and I just pulled my airbag tonight and unfortunately no dice on having the HSW from the factory. I know I need to buy the HSW (ML3Z-3600-RA) and then buy the SCCM (ML3Z-3F791-BB), plus a new bolt. I did the HVAC piece a long time ago to get the digital readout, so I'm dialed there. My question is regarding the wiring. What is the easiest way to tell if I need the wiring harness or not. I know I saw something in the threads about being able to see it without taking it apart, but I can't find that info again. I saw a post recently with a picture, but I can't find how get that view. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Dang, how do you have a 23 502A without HSW?? Must have been a super early, almost 22 build. Anyways, you luckily 99% should be prewired to the column, so just need the SCCM and wheel.

Appreciate the response! Yeah, I wasn't too happy when I saw that today, but it is what it is and a couple hundred bucks can fix it. Bigger things to bitch about in this world. I'll order up the SCCM and wheel and get to work! Thanks again!

I've been working on the install today in my 2023 XLT 302A. I've got the steering wheel and SCCM replaced already. I have the power cable routed, and I have it grounded. However, I can not figure out how to get the end to plug into the slot in the BCM. I have the DU2Z 14474 EA terminal installed on the end. I've got the BCM pulled out, and I have the proper slot identified, but the terminal will only push in about half way, no matter which way I orient it. What am I doing wrong?

Confirm that you have the terminal oriented correctly as it should easily seat in the connector. In my '23 302A, the worst part of the install was tearing apart the dash to route the wires.

Do you have the retainer pulled off the face of the plug?

There was no retainer that I saw, but I finally got it sorted and everything appears to be working correctly. Thank you.

You need the wt1030 to plug into the bcm.
That should be plugged into pin 15 of the bcm.

I got it to work with the plug I have. It had two very small tabs sticking up, one on each side. I folded them over flat and then it slipped right in.

Yeah I had to take a picture of the bcm plug to figure out the right orientation. Enjoy the Heated wheel!

2023 F-150 XLT 302A
I installed a heated steering wheel in my truck today. My truck is also a 2023 XLT 302A, but I did a couple of things differently, which will be noted in red below. I did not install new HVAC controls. I added a soft button, but I did not enable the Super Duty climate side card.

I was dreading routing the power wire, but with a fish tape it turned out to be much easier than I expected.

I also found the following YouTube video to be very helpful.
21+ F150 Heated Steering Wheel Install

The following is contributed by Scott Maxson on the forum on XLT302A retrofit.

After looking at the nearly 80 pages of the Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit. I found no concise XLT install steps. Below is what I did for my XLT 302A 5.0 FX4 after reviewing the Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit forum and Livnitup's FORScan - 2021-23 F150 spreadsheets.
If you find it appropriate you could add this to the list on page one of the Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit forum.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
HSW Changes for XLT 302A
Parts

OEM Heated Steering Wheel: ML3Z-3600-RA or equivalent after market wheel.
OEM Steering Column Control Module (SCCM): ML3Z-3F791-BB
OEM replacement steering wheel bolt (new, never installed): W721079-S437
WPT 404 - WIRE ASSEMBLY (Power/ground plug for clock spring assembly)
DU2Z 14474 EA - TERMINAL (See note and picture about this part below.)
Harness from jscaro - I did not get this harness, but I highly recommend it. I didn't know anyone was even making such a harness until I had already bought individual parts. I'd also like to note that JScaro helped me with several questions.

* HVAC hardware button solution not known for XLT. Soft screen switch needed to make HSW work for XLT enabling Super Duty climate side card.

1. Using FORScan back up all AsBuilt modules (SCCM, APIM, IPC and HVAC minimum) prior to installing parts.
2. Once heated steering wheel, new SCCM and power wire installation is complete.
3. Restored the SCCM saved (AsBuilt) settings to the new SCCM
4. Enabled heated steering wheel in SCCM, APIM, IPC and HVAC with FORScan tool

I started with the 501A steps...

Used these for my XLT 302A 5.0 V8 FX4 with 360 camera and rear window defrost.
Note that my truck is also an XLT 302A 5.0 V8 FX4 with rear window defrost, but my truck does NOT have 360 cameras, but most of the settings below were still the same.

APIM 7D0-02-01 xxxx *xxx xx-- change '1' to '5' - CFZ dual zone / SA enable / RC No / HSW available
APIM 7D0-02-02 x*xx xxxx xx-- change '4' to '6' - CAHSW enable / MD on / FDZDLB dual button
APIM 7D0-03-02 **xx xxxx xx-- set to “10” super duty - I did NOT perform this step. See further below.
HVAC 733-01-02 xxx* xxxx xx-- change 1 to 9 - HSW yes / HW no / BPC no / FI yes
IPC 720-05-02 *xxx xx-- change 2 to 3 - HC disable / H enable / HSW enable - I don't have vented seats so I changed 0 to 3.
SCCM 724-01-01 xxxx *xxx change '0' to '8'- enable HSW
SCCM 724-03-01 x*xx xxxx set LH steering wheel switch SWSLHC to '2' match your switch type (mine had Lane Keep, Lariat has Adaptive Cruise) - I changed this to 3 because I plan to add adaptive cruise control
SCCM 724-06-01 *xxx xxxx “B” 35 degrees C (typical factory setting) - I took a quick test drive and raised the temp up to 39 degrees C. You can do this by changing the As Built digit from B to F, or you can do it in the easy settings.

SCCM 724-06-01 x*xx xxxx “0” no HSW timeout (always on)

If you want HSW on remote start, make these changes at....

APIM 7D0-09-01 xxxx-xxxx-x*-- add '4 bit' to what's there RSSW enabled
IPC 720-02-02 xxxx-x*-- add '4 bit' to what's there RSSW enabled

Stop here and backup module changes

Power cycle truck and test HSW and heated seats .
I mentioned I didn't enable the Super Duty climate side card. I added a climate bar to the bottom of the screen using the following options from the common tab of Livinitup's Forscan sheet. If you go this route, the menu buttons will be removed from the bottom of the screen and a Home button will appear in the top left corner. All your options are still there, but navigating the menu is completely different. Hit the home button and you'll be able to navigate everything from there.
Enable Unreal Sync ThemeAPIM7D0-02-03xxxxxxx1xx--Requires Sync ver 22012 or higher - reset APIM in FORScan after either/both changes
Enable Climate Bar at the bottom of Sync screenAPIM7D0-02-02xxx*xxxxxx--use 2 for non-hybrid or 6 for hybrid - requires Unreal theme above
Enable Heated Steering Wheel on climate bar aboveAPIM7D0-02-01xxxx*xxxxx--see APIM spreadsheet for your value

Ford F-150 Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit - updated with information Climate Bar

With regard to the terminal I have listed above, see the following picture. I got the part # from a list of parts on the other forum. I could never get this to plug into the BCM, so it may not have been the correct part. However, once I folded in the two little tabs sticking up, it plugged in with no problem. (Yet another reason I would have bought JScaro's premade harness.)

Love the look of the unreal setup. Wondering if I already have the super duty coding completed, do I need to undo that before following your steps? Just having trouble finding my back up prior to the change. Thx 4 your help

Unfortunately I can't answer that question as I had never enabled the Super Duty side card. Please post back with the results of whatever method you try.
