Hows your project going, Big Dog Daddy? I'm following in your footsteps just waiting for the parts!
As of now I've received the new SCCM today, it's perfect and looks like a new factory floor part. It's a production part number on it not a spare part number. The HVAC module should arrive tomorrow. The steering wheel, bolt and connector will not arrive until 11/11 so this will hold me up.

In the meantime, I'll share this. A long time friend saw my truck last in May of 21 and liked it so much that he wanted the identical truck, color and everything. His only change was 501a not 500 as mine is. He has a heated wheel.

I have his vin and I've run an as built comparison thru software. To find all of the changes required to the SCCM, HVAC and APIM. I'm currently compiling a spreadsheet of the changes that I think need to be made and intend to send this to livinitup for comments and verification. When verified I will post the spreadsheet.

I'm also researching the wiring diagram to match the grounding point, wire routing and connector views. I'll also post this .

My goal is to be as close to factory install as possible. Including the Apim option in remote start settings for heated wheel on or off.

This would be excellent if you could do a step by step write up. I’m planning to do that for all 5 items I plan to add to make my truck essentially a 502a

Much appreciated! I'm a 501a as well. The heated steering wheel is the main thing I miss, though the adaptive headlights would be nice. That is likely too rich for my blood if its even possible.

It’s looking like I’ll be able to do the led projector headlamp swap for around $1450. That’s just for static projectors with glare free lighting, but would likely be a bit more to get the full dynamic bending.

Since I’m already getting the turn signal stalk, I might as well add the rain sensing wipers also, the two other parts for that are probably another $80. I’m having a REALLY hard time finding a good part number for the automatically adjusting steering column though

The headlights are totally possible. There is a company that sells the lights and a harness. But it’s pricy. Somewhere in the $1500’s I believe for everything. I’d love to do it but I’ve got to say the leds on my 302a are really good. And I replaced the front turns with a set of LEDs and it looks really good in my opinion. That said I am going to get the LED taillights. Those are about $800 total for 2 new ones and the small harness needed. Sorry did not mean to hijack thread.

It’s worth it I bought my set off eBay headlights and foglights and the harness is going for about 550, and they are also coming out with the other harness for high beams to function I’m already in line for the high beam harness and that’s another 550$

Yeah given my Lariat 501a already has LEDs, I've similarly replaced the turn signals with actual LEDs (with the resistor) and the silly license plate halogens with LED as well. As much as I'd love to have the look of the 502a headlights, I'm not sure I like them for $1500 :) Would rather upgrade the brakes but that seems nigh on impossible currently. Powerstop makes a kit that is impossible to find, and big brake kits seem to break ABS

FYI The resister is not needed in our trucks. Just a couple of clicks in forscan and the blinking is normal. I also did the license plate lights. That’s a no brainer. Lol.

I'm not sure if this will work or not but instead of replacing the HVAC controls for the HSW button, you guys could try enabling the soft button in Sync with the following in FORScan:

APIM 7D0-02-02 xxx* xxxx xx--
APIM 7D0-02-01 xxxx *xxx xx-

I received the HVAC module today and will be installing this and the SCCM in the next few days.

In the meantime I have put together a spreadsheet of changes I intend to make in forscan to enable the heated wheel and heated wheel with remote start.

These changes have not been tested yet. The list was compiled using As built explorer and referencing livnitup's forscan spreadsheet. @Livnitup looked at it this afternoon and offered additional settings which are included.

My truck is a Lariat 500 extended cab 5.0 with heated and cooled seats w/o heated wheel
The comparison truck is a Lariat 501a extended cab 5.0 with heated and cooled seats with heated steering. Those changes are highlighted in yellow.

If you have heated seats only you should be able to also find the appropriate changes here, but i haven't highlighted them.

I’ve read through this thread like 10 times. Can anyone summarize for me?

I have a 21 XLT

I believe I need to order:

- steering wheel ML3Z-3600-RA

- clock spring ML3Z-14A664-B

- steering wheel bolt W721079-S437

Do I also need a SCCM? Anything else that I may have missed? I don’t plan on buying new hvac controls and will just update APIM to f250.

Thank you!

Does anyone have a part number or size for the terminal needed to connect to pin 15 on the C2280A BCM connector? Getting parts ordered for this and want to make sure I have everything on hand.

This is what I got WT-1004 but it’s a 18 gauge, I haven’t wired it up yet, I hope this is the correct terminal going to BCM
