If you have heated and cooled seats and the truck is a 2021 you'll probably need this button control.
ML3Z-19980-K ford replacement parts or ML3T-18C612-DE can be found on ebay as an OEM factory leftover part.

You may also need to replace your SCCM if it doesn't have the connector on the back of it. I was considering doing this as well, but it all started to get very pricey, way more than just the $160.00 steering wheel.
I guess there is no way of knowing if the SCCM needs to be replaced without taking it apart?

Did you have a list of parts you were working from?

I am in the process of trying to figure out how to turn my 501A into a 502A, so this is a very relevant thread for me.

So far the parts that I have required, specific to my Lariat are:

Heated Wheel - ML3Z-3600-RA
HVAC module with heated wheel button (PN?)
Airbag Contact Assembly - ML3Z14A664B

I understand there is some wiring that needs to occur as well. Is this list accurate/complete? Also, I am semi-familiar with FORScan and understand changes are needed there as well
The wiring is relevant to what you need to do, you also need a wire pigtail to run a power and ground for the heat element.

Yea, the wiring is going to be the most difficult part for me, mostly because I know next to nothing about electrical. Mechanical, I got that all day long

No list of parts, other than the additional pigtail in the previous post.

I pulled down the lower cover on the steering column it was pretty easy. From there you can see the back of the SCCM. there will be a 6 or 7 pin flat connector AND additionally there will be socket for 2 pin connector molded into the back of the SCCM. The socket is molded into my sccm but there are no terminals protruding through from the internal circiut board on the SCCM. I didnt take a picture, but it becomes very clear when you see it. Mines a 500a so maybe your 501 has it there it's worth a look.

The wiring is not bad at all, just run one to the ground and another over to the BCM and that’s about it. Everything else is plug and play with some forscan programming.

It’ll be interesting to see what they truly deleted for the heated steering wheels on the ‘23s. Wonder if the wire coming from the BCM will be present.

Probably not, it seems they run as little as they have too.

@superfordman dam, I wish that was the one that had came in my truck. I would have had the heated installed already. The outlined terminals aren't there on my lariat. I guess ford cheaped out on mine. I may look for all of these parts from a wrecked truck. The sccm alone is like 650.00 and on backorder. I'll find a hole column from a total for 250.00 and have everything I need.
Thanks for posting the pictures! It's appreciated.

Ya only heated wheel equipped trucks come with the right SCCM. Don't waste your money!!! Just get one second hand like I did, $130. Here is the listed I just snagged those pics from. They're even very modular so you can remove the power telescoping controls and even put your turn signal stalk right back if you want.

Thank you Sir
I just purchased it, I'm on my way now. No more cold fingers for this old man!

I want to verify the steering wheel, is this one correct if I have lane keep/lane centering? It states “Without active steering” which confuses me

Active steering , is only on Platinum, Limited, and some King Ranch. I thought the same thing until I checked the sales brochure. It changes the effective steering box ratio at different speeds. Makes it less turns lock to lock in parking lots.

That's the one you need. You can even swap your switches and bezel over if wanted from your current wheel.
