I have a 2023 F-150 that has some frequent harsh shifts. They're nothing too bad, but in probably 3/4 the cases of decelerating to a stop, I feel a slight bump (and sometimes it's more like a shove) on every gear from 6th on down. It also hesitates slightly after the upshift from 4th to 5th (if I'm remembering correct) on hard acceleration, though I'm not flooring the pedal too often so I don't encounter that problem much.

I recently brought the truck in to a dealer, as I was aware of TSB 23-2250, which covers harsh shifting for the 2017-2023 F-150. According to that TSB, I figured the dealer would at least run the "PCM - Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In routine" on the appropriate clutches. Or maybe reflash the transmission shift strategy. However, I was only told that they could not duplicate the issue, there were no codes, no updates to run, etc., so they did nothing.

I thought the dealer was giving me the runaround, but then I found TSB 24-2046, which supersedes 23-2250, and now only attributes rough shifting issues to the 2017-2020 F-150. So I guess dealers now have no reason to troubleshoot transmission issues on our trucks, given that Ford doesn't recognize the issue at all?

So that leaves me wondering... is it just me? Or are others experiencing these same (albeit minor) annoyances with the 10R80?

I had the same issue with my truck when it had about 2000 miles and the dealer did the "PCM - Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In routine" on the appropriate clutches. This absolutely helped fix the problem. I would suggest maybe trying another dealer.

That will probably be my plan in the near-future. But after already having to go through with the hassle of not having my vehicle for nearly 2 full days, only to be told that the problem doesn't exist, I don't have high confidence in another dealer treating me any differently. As I said in the OP post, Ford revised the newest TSB for the 10R80 to exclude the 2021-current model years from the issue, so if a dealership is doing warranty work "by the book" then I think it's likely that they come to the same conclusion because otherwise they may be burning money chasing a solution to a problem that Ford does not recognize. I know that warranty work is generally a shitty deal for dealership service departments, so I wouldn't be surprised if Ford would refuse to reimburse them without an active TSB for the issue.

Actually now that I bother to search a bit more, there is a TSB specifically for the 2023 F-150 10R80: TSB 24-2070. So I guess I just have a shitty local dealer.
I don’t see anything on that TSB..

Yeah simple Google didn’t pop it up for me but when I went on Ford’s website I found it.
Doesn’t seem like it’s anything other than just collecting data for the 2023’s.

I did reset my tables and halted adapted learning through forscan and haven’t had a rough shift in the last 3 days. Decided to try that since my dealership is 3-4 months back logged on transmission diagnostics.

Yeah I'm a bit confused by this TSB. But further down it lists the procedure for "Sticking Valves - Main Control Valve Body" if there is no PCM/TCM update available. And that procedure is just to perform the PCM - Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In routine.

I'm going to make another service appointment, and try to get Ford involved via a customer support case #. Hopefully that'll get it fixed...

Hey there. Can you send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of the Ford dealer you have been working with? I would like to take a closer look at your transmission concerns.

Anyone had this 24-2070 performed yet? Got some harsh shifts at times and may take it in.

Should you specifically reference the TSB when speaking with the dealership?
