GPS not working -- common?

I've noticed a few times my GPS is not working. Yesterday driving home from work it was not working (had the GPS symbol with a line through it.) Is that common and does anyone know what causes it?

Try this:
For vehicles equipped with a volume/power and seek buttons, press and hold both the volume/power and seek buttons for 10 seconds and the system will reboot. For vehicles not equipped with a volume/power button, holding the seek right and volume down buttons on the steering wheel controls will reboot the SYNC 4 system.

That works, sometimes the first attempt, sometimes the second attempt. And sometimes it happens multiple times a day and starts to get annoying.

I’m having the similar problem. Red line across the GPS, and location of the vehicle is out of whack. I tried the volume button+ right seek button method but the screen stayed on after press and hold those two buttons for 30 secs.
