Microphone not working

Sorry if this has been posted before but after searching I can’t find any answers…

So suddenly today my mic stopped working when using CarPlay, but only for phone calls - people can’t hear me when they call. It also doesn’t seem work after I say a command after pressing the button on the steering wheel. However when I say “hey siri” it seems to work. Not sure if this is bc it uses the phones mic or the trucks?

Anyway I’ve disconnected Bluetooth and WiFi multiple times and also updated my iOS to 18.2 - still nothing. Outside of these obvious things to check, is there anything I could be missing? It doesn’t look like I have an update available for the truck so that’s not an option

Ok worth a shot. I would delete your phone from the truck and also delete the truck from your phone under CarPlay and Bluetooth then connect it again

Just tried this, still nothing

Ironically I started experiencing this issue myself and am working through it this morning. Will let you know what I come up with.

So far I have -

- deleted my truck from carplay on my phone
- deleted my phone from my truck
- tried both wireless and wired
- tried another phone. Still didn’t work
- tried my phone in my wife’s car and it’s fine
- restarted APIM holding power and FF
- tried using voice commands on truck without phone and those don’t work either
- disconnected both batteries (powerboost)for 20 min and am waiting

Ok. None of that worked for me but I did fix it. My issue ended up being related to a NAViKS interface I installed. I ended up having to open up my dash to disconnect and reseat a cable.

as a last resort if nothing above works you might want to get in there and re seat the large connector on the APIM. If you get to the point these are the instructions to get to it. When you get to step 11 it’s the large connector that is purple.

I don’t see why this would be your issue if you or your dealership haven’t been in there but could be worth trying if everything else above fails.

I tried
disconnect and reconnect battery,
remove phone from settings and car from phone
restart phone
check the cable looks ok.
reset radio with power and fwd button pressed
I know its the microphone in the vehicle because when I try to use ford voice control it does not pick up the voice at all
