I was looking through extended protection plans on Granger for my new F150 XLT and have a few questions:

1. Since the prices are so different between power train, base, extra and premium, historically what type of plan has been the greatest value for components that most often break?

2. If I drive 10000 miles a year and want to get a warranty for 10 years, that puts me into the $100 deductible 100k miles section. Typically is there a guideline to determine how many years / miles it is good to get? I do not plan on selling this off but more intended for a long time usage.

3. Outside of Granger and Ziegler are you also using other providers? Are you paying extra if you choose monthly?

I’m not sure anyone on this forum will be able to answer your question with the certainty/data that you seem to be looking for.

My opinion: I think it depends on your truck, base XL? Powertrain might be all you need. Loaded lariat, platinum or limited? Probably want to consider the premium with lighting add-on.

Fancy features and electronics can go bad and can be expensive to fix. My 2021 tailgate lift motor started grinding just inside of 3yr/36, but probably would have been $750-$1000 to have ford to replace it.

I ended up purchasing the 10yr/100k premium because of the reasons noted above. Price seems to go up very steep after that point, which makes sense.

Flood ford is another provider often recommended. For Florida residents (and maybe other states) fd-warranty.com is a good option.

Like with insurance, the coverage is more of a peace of mind than anything. You may never need it, or you may need it multiple times a year. Just look on here with people having "perfect" working trucks and others having many issues on here.

As mentioned above, if you have a high optioned truck then it may be better to get a higher tier plan. It comes down to how much you want to actually spend on it. You may never need it. If you do plan on keeping your truck for as long as you think, it would probably be a good idea to get one of the plans. Just remember a 10 year plan starts when the truck was first sold and isn't a 10 year extension after the 3 year bumper to bumper is over.

We've an '18 eco and a '22 PB. Both with extended warranty, and thank goodness. I have the most comprehensive plans possible on both. Used to be I hated that shit and wouldn't do it, but service is such so friggen expensive today, and these things have to many failure points, that....

Some of what you select depends on how long you keep it. I'll put 8k or under a year on mine, so have a 120K ( or something like that) mile lifetime plan on my '22. The '18 takes '15k a year, so has a 120k 8 year plan on it.

There are a few top providers out there. I talked with area service shops and asked them which ones they accepted, accepted without additional charges (some don't), and which one they hated.

I used Lombard Ford. I would think the prices are all pretty close for the major online retailers. Having the rental car coverage is important given the delays in parts nowadays
