Yes it is - it's based on the date the vehicle was sold.
I proved this wrong on the other ESP thread.

I expect someone could look at their past vehicles to determine miles/year.

I have been falling between 21-22k/year for a long time now, for example, so I went for a 6/125 since that lines up pretty closely.
There ya go.
All my numbers changed after COVID.
Shut down the office and all employees and myself work from home now.
I am still learning my new miles

Well I gotta figure out how many miles I'll be driving it since we went from 3 vehicles to 2 when I got this truck. Lol

Ford's official wording is:

Ford F-150 Extended warranty 1706983023466

My experience with two trucks matches that. I can't find the post you're referring to where you "proved it wrong."

A previous truck I owned with ESP 72/75,000 Premium care.

It's from Oasis in Ford's system. See "Extended Coverage" towards the bottom.
(Literally what Ford sees)
Admittedly, purchased at the time the truck was purchased.

The 72 months of ESP overlapped with the 36/36,000 Bumper to Bumper, as well as the 60/60,000 Drivetrain.

You're talking about a used truck. The OP has a new truck. New vehicle plans start from the in-service date.

Current vehicle:

I purchased ESP a couple of months after buying the truck.
It was considered "New", rather than used.
So I imagine the start-date debate is really based on whether the ESP contract is New vs Used?

Correct - there's no mystery here - nor any "proving wrong" to be done. If you bought the vehicle new, the ESP is from the original in-service date. If you bought the vehicle used, it's from when you bought the plan. And, it's considerably more expensive.
