Gateway Module communication problem

This may be a Jesse question more than me. If you have a Mongoose and FDRS and the issue is software related, I am sure Jesse can figure it out.

Thanks. That's very helpful. If the dealer doesn't get it figured out this week, I'll ask Jesse if he could take a look if I get it back and buy a 2 day fdrs license. Just nice to have it confirmed that there is some type of problem.

So I picked the truck up today from the dealer. Ford Engineering still had not addressed the problem. I wanted to get an actual technical description of the problem that they were having, but the technician that had been working on it was not there. I was able to talk to the service manager who had been communicating with the technician and was told the following:

They are not able to communicate with the "diagnostic network" on the truck. He said that there are 4 networks including 2 diagnostic networks. One of the diagnostic networks is not used on that truck and the one that is used is not able to communicate. They believe that it is a configuration problem and not a physical problem at this point. Everything is working properly but they would not be able to get any diagnostic information if there is a problem in the future.​

Has anyone seen any problems related to the diagnostic network or have any information on this that they could share? If I hook up with Fdrs or Forscan, what specifically could I do to verify that there is a problem with the diagnostic network? Should I just not worry about this until there is an actual discernible problem with the truck?

Sounds fishy. But I'm no expert.

I would think that if FDRS/Forscan can run a scan and EVERY module was to respond appropriately, then the necessary networks just proved to be functioning. Especially if scanning for codes works without failure.

I believe there are some SSM and updates to cure network communication issues earlier this year. If you have a Mongoose for sure a run through FDRS would be worth it to me.
