Per the photo below, I have an alignment issue with my right front camera. I think this started when they removed the bumper to fix the active air dam. Has anyone else had this, and is it possible to fix without a trip to the dealer? If not, I'll just have them do it when I bring it in for the recalls. Thanks.

Hi, It will require a 360 camera alignment which is done via FDRS. It sounds like a warranty issue, so it would be best to have the dealership repair it.

If you are curious about FDRS and how you would perform this work, take a look at this thread. :)

I replaced my stock mirrors with tow mirrors and the cameras were off. I just took it back to the dealer and they reprogrammed them. They are now providing a decent stitched view.

Update... this is still a problem and a frustrating issue for me. I like the truck but am not sure I will buy another Ford product because of things like this.

Here is the note I sent to Ford. No response of any sort.

My situation is as follows. Last year (2022), I brought the truck to Putnam Ford (San Mateo, CA) for a warranty repair on the active front air dam. While they repaired the air dam correctly, the 360 cameras did not work properly when they returned the car. More specifically, and as shown in the photo below, the view on the right hand side of the truck became disjointed after the air dam repair. I informed the dealer, and thought it could be repaired correctly when I next brought the truck in for a recall. But when I brought the truck in once again, they reset the software on the truck which just created a reprogramming pain for me, but failed to fix the cameras. They never checked to see if the issue was rectified. I subsequently brought the truck in once again for yet another recall and a leaking rear differential, and the dealer reprogrammed the software, yet the issue remained. Again, they never bothered to check if it was fixed. Incidentally, and reflective of generally poor levels of service I have received, when I mentioned the leaking rear differential, the service advisor told me “Let me see if this is covered. I’ll need to contact the Ford engineers.” Sure. The differential on a $70k truck is leaking and they cannot just tell me they will fix it. Furthermore, I am supposed to believe they will need to get engineers from Dearborn, which probably cost $200k fully loaded, to review the failure. The whole experience is simply tiring.

Since they informed me they did not have the part for the differential repair, I needed to bring the truck back in for a fourth time. But this time, they told me the camera function is normal for an F-150. I mentioned that the cameras no longer allow me to park using the cameras (their intended purpose), and also showed them another Ford (a Mach E) with the same cameras that worked perfectly. Their response was that the Mach E is a different car, and just because the cameras work as intended in that car, they may operate differently, and not as well in my truck, even though they worked before. A nonsense excuse and response.

So, to recap the situation, I have my costly Ford truck that is under warranty, and the cameras do not work as intended because the dealer effectively broke the system when they replaced the active air dam. The cameras consistently do not work properly. This is not an intermittent issue. The dealer refuses to fix it because they claim Ford views this as normal, even though the same camera system works perfectly in other cars, and worked perfectly in mine before the air dam repair. I am not sure whether Ford simply does not stand behind its products (which has candidly been my experience), or if this dealer is particularly bad (which has been my experience also). But this dealer is close to my home and I do not have time to drive to a further dealer that likely is not any better.

Of course, I can live with this disfunction in my truck, but I should not have to. I am hoping Ford can help me resolve this issue. Either way, even though I like the truck itself, I am not sure I will be buying any more of your products.

I'm convinced that your dealership will never be willing or capable of influencing your ownership experience in a positive way.

That's my way of saving that I would never even give them an opportunity to attempt to do so.

There are members here that have successfully recalibrated their 360 view themselves. It's amazing the apathy of the service industry.

I'd love to do it myself. Can you please point me in the right direction?

I have heard that you can do some of the calibration procedures using a certain version of Forscan, and a USB OBD adapter like the OBDlink EX.

If that's true for calibration 360, it's a bargain.
Windows Laptop
Forscan (www.forscan.org)
OBDlink EX ($60)

But the Ford factory authorized method is using FDRS software.
You can license it for $50 for 48hours

Windows Laptop
FDRS ($50)
Mongoose OBD adapter (~$550)

Obviously the entry fee for using FDRS is more because of the Mongoose. But with FDRS licensing, you now have the ability to do so many things without ever having to deal with the dealership apathy again. There are literally hundreds of members here that have followed this method for managing the software on their own truck.
