People really talking about tuning but not mentioning that the coyote is better with a tune because the factory tune is so conservative.
Don’t forget about the Ford warranty backed supercharger kit that bolts on to the coyote to give it power that us untouchable by the 3.5 EB without really breaking the block down.

The 5.0L has great torque too, but not to that extreme. The 5.0L’s 410 lb ft @4,250 rpm is nothing to scuff at, that’s 45 lb ft more mid-range torque than the 5.4L 3V made (which was 365 lb ft @3,750 rpm). Anyone who did any towing with the 5.4 knows that was a pretty capable powerplant when it came to towing. The 5.0 isn’t afraid of a trailer that’s for sure, and walks all over the previous iterations of V8’s ever put into the F-150.
Now imagine taking a stock truck and dropping a tune on it for 500hp / 600tq at the ground, with that torque being at 3600 rpm on pump gas. Stock truck with a tune vs a stock tuned 5.0 coming in at 385 / 415. That's a pretty big gap and why it's a choice of exhaust sound or raw power. Of course it's eco, or boost.

You can do quite a lot to the 3.5 with just half of the $ needed to get the blower bolted on. As for the parasitic blower drag you'll always be spinning, bye bye fuel economy. Blowers eat too much power.

while there is no replacement for displacement ... in the Mountains where i live i will take the boost.... most people will not tune a 3.5L or supercharge a 5.0L, for most people it is just talk on the Internet... about one day when...

but they both great engines in a good truck.... buy what you like and enjoy...

5.0 puts 423 lb ft of torque to the ground tuned, which is making 450+ lb ft torque at the crank on E-85. Even stock it puts more than the crank rating the the ground on E-85. Stock is around 414 lb ft at the wheel on E-85. I get your point but the 5.0 is pretty under-rated from the factory. It’s got a lot more twist than most people realize. That’s more twist than the old 454 big blocks in my dads 34’ Silverton.

385 rwhp is also pushing 430-440 horsepower at the crankshaft.

I was leaving the ethanol blends out of it as it favors forced induction, but sure you can e30 tune a 3.5 and get more than double the gains that the 5.0 picks up with on e85.

Sure….but it’s still a V6. Not interested in a V6 at the end of the day myself. I like a sexy V8 under my hood

I want fast speed with as little noise as possible :)

I'll leave the nascar wannabes with their open exhaust to take up the noise side of things. If the motor is louder than the occupant's "weeeee", I think you've built it wrong. If you spend any amount of time on the highway at speed, the noise factor gets old REAL quick. I was installing X pipes when they came on to the scene with procharged motors. I've already checked that box. Drive a fast EV for a few weeks and you'll appreciate the difference. Maybe you could use a few more tickets before it starts to register.

^ That

Also: "It's a truck not a car, so stop complaining about mpg".
Ah yes, the old "I can't make it efficient so efficiency doesn't matter!" argument. You can have your cake and eat it too, but first you must ignore the desire for 'but muh v8'

This only makes 1400hp with its 3 cylinder

And this little ecoboost is only 800hp

If ford gets serious about the PHEV powerboost, even in a "R" trim, it'd be 700HP factory vehicle if but only 2.7L in size on 87 pump gas. Performance and comfort are king for something that's not a garage queen. That's easily attainable today. I care about mileage not because of gov't funded propaganda, but for the raw truth. Fossil fuels have been the #1 unofficial reason for war for most of the living's lives. If I'm going to use such a fuel supporting people that truly despise the populace as a whole, I'd like to use as little of it as possible, preferably none at all. We've got troops in syria still to this day guarding oil wells and refineries, wiping out syria's own troops that come and try to regain control over it. We're not even at war w/ syria, so yeah, I take such things into consideration.

I mean if you've got your own well and the ability to refine it, guzzle that gas! Otherwise you can get some panels and a performance EV and create your own go-fast electrons at home.
