had the 5.0 and this time went with the 3.5, the 3.5 is quicker
Depends from where, most testing shows the 5.0L to be fastest for highway passing of all the F-150 ICE engines. Most testing on the other hand also shows the 3.5L to be faster 0-60 than the 5.0L (and the fastest 0-60 of all ICE F-150 engines).

5.0L 4x4 Crew Cab posts 5.9 seconds 0-60 via Car and Driver and MotorWeek where the 3.5 EcoBoost posts 5.3-5.6 seconds depending on tester. The 1/4 mile times are tight and the 5.0 definitely reels the 3.5 back in, ranging 14.0-14.6 seconds for the 5.0 V8 and 13.9-14.4 seconds for the 3.5 EcoBoost. It’s a drivers race really if you are stoplight racing. The EcoBoost feels faster because it’s got more torque lower in the band, which it is faster down low. But the 5.0 does indeed catch up.

My SuperCab 5.0L has no worries against most any stock F-150 besides maybe a Regular Cab being on the lighter end as an STX. I do 5.4-5.5 seconds 0-60 consistently. Will handily match and pull away from a 3.5 EcoBoost SCrew as it revs out, unless they are tuned of course:)

It's a truck not a car, speed don't matter. Add a Magnaflow and let everyone know it's not an ecoboost.

You want speed, get a fast car!

Everyone hates on the 3.5... funny how people can hate a truck with a tune only crew cab that will run a 11 second 1/4 mile and out tow any other half ton on the road....

Man I like that truck. Your gonna love the 5.0.
What tires is that on there I like the way they look
Nitto Ridge grappler. I had these tires on my 2021. They only had 3500 miles, so I had the dealer swap them out.

Nice vette there. I agree but I want my truck to feel a bit fast also, but I agree with getting a fast car, I’m a track rat and that’s why I got this when I wanna let it rip.

It’s unbelievable how quick these trucks can be with all that weight.

For towing, 1/2 tons are generally limited by the rear axle weight rating (spring rate). The engine impact isn't as significant.

Also, for towing applications (and even factory racing), engines are generally detuned for endurance and durability. You'll see this differentiation in heavier trucks such as the F250/350/450 vs. F550/F650.

5 Star isn't on the hook if your engine decides to turn into kibbles and bits while you're towing.

I fix software bugs!
Back in 2015 when I started my F-150 "journey" (I really don't like that word) I purposely went in with a V8 in mind. The sales person convinced me to drive the then 6 speed 3.5 EB first and I was sold. I owned three more after that truck until in 2022 I bought an STX with a 5.0 (when you get older you "simplify"). A few months ago my dealer called and asked if I'd be interested in an even swap with a 2023 XLT 3.5 EB. I went and drove it, nice features my STX doesn't have and right away I noticed one major difference - I could tell I was driving a V6. It was zippy, refined and uneventful to me. There is also a power feeling you get when you start the 5.0 vs a 3.5 EB; like you feel the rumble of the 5.0, the moving mass as 8 pistons rotate and make a distinctive exhaust tone. I don't know it's hard to describe. I passed on the dealers offer.

I do miss practically letting the 3.5 EB idle up the boat ramp pulling my boat out of the water. Yeah, and light to light horsing around was fun in a 3.5 EB too.

I think you made a good choice going with the 5.0L.

I went from a 2014 3.5 eco to a 2019 2.7 eco to my current 2022 5.0. The 5.0 is my favorite engine to date. I can get decent mpg's out of it if easy but can have fun if I want to. The coyote sounds are amazing on this current model of the 5.0. Congrats on the new truck!

I bought the 3.5EB because it was on the lot in a time when most lots were empty.
I would rather have the 5.0 and put the factory supercharger on it with warranty.
maybe next truck I can get 5.0 unless they force me into plugging it in.

2021 XLT Screw 5.0,4x4,302Asport,
At least the 5.0 noise is genuine and not a recording as on the 3.5....

That snark said (sorry couldn't resist), my 5.0/3.31 is plenty quick enough. Those moments when I really open it up, its dang quick in my book.

Plus, its actually really agile for something with so much bulk.

The noise may be fake on the 3.5 but I’ll tell you what….nothing fake about that low end torque! It’s a real truck motor all day long whether you like it or not.

The 5.0L has great torque too, but not to that extreme. The 5.0L’s 410 lb ft @4,250 rpm is nothing to scuff at, that’s 45 lb ft more mid-range torque than the 5.4L 3V made (which was 365 lb ft @3,750 rpm). Anyone who did any towing with the 5.4 knows that was a pretty capable powerplant when it came to towing. The 5.0 isn’t afraid of a trailer that’s for sure, and walks all over the previous iterations of V8’s ever put into the F-150.
