So-o-o-o they start to investigate in March of this year on a problem in vehicles delivered ten years ago? I am totally baffled. My washer is on the fritz and I called the repairman on the same day. Should I send my resume to Ford ATTENTION: Heads In The Sand Division?

Traded my 2011 with the lead frame issue and fragile transmission lines. Neither was ever an issue for me or much of anything that everyone complained about on forums. Self destruct of engine was random but really a trouble free ride for 12 years.

I'm surprised it has taken this long for Ford to realize that 2014 trucks are still on the road. I still see plenty of Gen 12 on the road too. They all have issues but Ford makes a good overall product.

I remember my dad’s 2011 F-250 did this. It would also downshift CRAZY hard from 6-4. It would feel like it was going to blow apart. His next 2016 was butter.

My 2023 reminds me of his 2011 at times. The downshift from 10-8 or 10-7 can be quite violent in my F-150, but not as violent as his F-250. That one would shake the change in the center console. I will say it never had an issue even doing that for 100k miles though.

My 2014 had this issue about 3 years ago, I fixed it by replacing the lead frame assembly in the transmission.

2 weeks ago I had the recall fix installed. At the same time I had the steering column control module replaced for another issue altogether. I routinely tow a 21 foot travel trailer, and 2 days after I got my truck back from the dealer I left for a camping trip. I always use the tow assist when pulling the camper.

I ran across several issues on this trip never before experienced.

First, I would be coasting having been traveling at 55-60mph coming to a stop light. The light would turn green prior to me needing to completely stop. When I would go back to the gas (still coasting at approximately 35mph) to accelerate, the truck would drop into 2nd gear and not shift out. I had to let off the gas once again, coast for about 15 seconds, try again, and all would be good. This happened multiple times while on the road, but has never happened prior to this recent work.

Second, a week into the trip while out site seeing the check engine light came on (not flashing). It stayed on all that day. I stopped, turned everything off, then back on, and it was still on. That said, the next day it wasn’t on. What could cause this?

Third, the engine began pinging like crazy (after the check engine light issue…not before). A constant pinging, but much greater upon acceleration. If I tried to use cruise control, the pinging was far worse.

Finally, on the trip back home (after the check engine light issue) with continued pinging, climbing small hills it became impossible to maintain speed. I would drop from 60 down to 45 at times. The truck was downshifting appropriately with the tow assist, but it just couldn’t maintain speed on hills I have never had issues with in the past. I turned off tow assist at this point, but continued to have this issue.

Could any or all of the repairs and recall work down just prior to this trip have caused any or all of these issues?

I have a 2014 f150 4X4. While in dealership for a new battery made appointment to address this recall. Soonest was in two months September 10th, dealership offered send their mobile tex to My house okay only a week early August 30th. So over the weekend drove three times and nowtes the transmission slipping when I slowed down every time I slowed down then accelerated. The truck has 30,000 miles. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow. Did you get any help with your problems? Any others here now how Ford will dill with these problems.

I’ve not received any feedback on my problem. I find it interesting that your are having what seems like a similar issue, My 2014 only has 60k miles on it, so seems like we both have low mileage 2014’s. Doubt that has anything to do with it, but one never knows.

Please let me know what the dealership says or does about this issue. I plan on towing again in a few weeks, and would like to avoid having this problem again.

I loved my 2014. Would still be driving it if it had not been totaled. I did however experience the downshift into 1st while cruising at about 40 mph in rush hour traffic. Completely locked up the rear end. Scared the Holly crap out of me. Only happened once though. I’m not certain if it was related, but shortly after that my rear end started whining and I had to have it rebuilt at a $1,100 expense to me.

Well I came here for some answers, still looking. Took my truck to the dealership they said it has to be diagnosed. A week later they still have my truck and it needs a new transmission , and it is nothing to do with the recall fix. I'm so pissed! I'm going to get on the phone tomorrow.
