I think a portion of the ambient is missing. Lower door cubbies and the cup holder. But yeah, the most important, the footwells and upper doors, is there.
Yes, that's true, I really didn't care for the cupholder lights, so having it missing on my 22 was a plus and improvement. :)

Ford might be disappointed to know that of the better than 5 decades that they continuously convinced me to swap my current Blue Oval products for the latest and greatest Blue Oval products, they have recently ended that run and have me a completely satisfied customer with their yesteryear products.

Or put another way, it's the first time I find myself looking at the newest offerings and being 100% convinced that what I already have is more appealing.

And it's not one thing. Certainly nothing that stands out. But rather an overall packaging and the value equation associated.

I'm not angry about it. I'm just surprised that it could, and in fact, did happen.

I'm not predicting that it's going to last many more years. Surely a wave of innovation will eventually take place?
? I felt that same way about giving up my '97 PowerStroke for the '24 Lariat, thought long and hard about it because other than the lack of 4WD the old truck was perfect for me and ran like a beast. I'm sure it will outlive me, just hoping the '24 does, many years from now of course.

Yea I have a 22. They deleted the ambient lighting in my truck and I remember a thread where there was talk on how to add it back. I don't the leds. My 16 has ambient lighting. Foot well lighting, glove box. Not this one. Your 24kr has them huh?
Yes, it does. Your truck must have been a victim of the chip shortage deletes that plagued model years 22 and 23.

It kind of tickes me off that ford decides to remove over half of the interior lighting. Nothing on the console. Nothing in the foot wells. Ambient lighting gone and the over head lighting is virtually useless.
Then to make matters worse ford's logic to shut off interior lighting first when the battery isn't feeling well is ridiculous. What? The total watts used on the measly 4 overhead lights can't be over 1/2 watt.
I have a led flashlight that puts out twice the lighting of all the dome lights using only 2 AA batteries for 10 hours.

I'm venting because it's dark at 5pm and when I drop something on the floor I can't see a freaking thing.
Or I cant see the cup holders. Let's not talk about the glove box.
Jesus christ ford. Whatd ya save 6 bucks on a 75k truck?

I took a ride in my brother's new RAM.
Night and day different. (See what I did there?
My new 24 f250...has lights in center console, and..........under the slide panel on fwd part of console
My 22 did not??
Not saying they are bright...

I’m only following the Ford group because that’s what I have but I’m curious are people who are looking at the others finding Ram, GM, Toyota etc. also making option cuts year over year as well? Maybe not the same ones but are features being dropped on other lines as well or does this appear to be a Ford thing only. Talking options not issues. Just curious

You say ambient lighting is gone. Your profile says you have a 2022 Platinum. My 24 KR has ambient lighting, so I’m assuming your truck should as well. Are you implying that 25 model year trucks have no more ambient lighting on any trim level?

I had a 2017 Lariat, the ambient lighting was better, we had the lighted cupholders and media bin in the front console, a light in the glove box, and I could choose from several different color options. At least they still allow us to choose the brightness or turn them off.

I agree that the interior lighting leaves a little to be desired, especially the rear of the cab, those little lights above each rear door are pretty dim. As far as the battery saver mode disabling the interior lights, well, let’s just say the battery saver mode issue is a thorn in many of our sides!

My night vision sucks, so I need all the bright lights I can get. That’s why I keep a bright ass LED flashlight in the console.
(Revised) My ‘22 Platinum is Job 2 and came with ambient lighting except for the lower storage on the front doors. I added lighting to the forward cup holders, center console storage, and glove box.

I have to agree. It is more like "Mood Lighting" than useable lighting.

Great thread. Just reminded me to drop one of my many mini flash lights into the center console or glove box.

Speaking of deletes, my Wife just bought a 2024 Bronco Sport Badlands off the lot.

Not only did they scrap the normal keypad for yr. 24 but for 25, you can't get a real spare tire, without also buying one of the off road packages. You get a bottle of sealant and an inflator instead. On a car they bill as an "Adventure Vehicle". Nuts! Almost as stupid as requiring black roofs.

She doesn't need a car that looks like something Mad Max would drive and you shouldn't have to pay thousands, to get a spare tire. Not even a doughnut type.

We were going to order one but when we learned of that and I couldn't confirm that the tire storage well would still exist, tire or not, in the timeline we needed, she took one off the lot.

Still a really nice car and after playing in the recent snow, I can say the drive system is pretty impressive but man, what a bone headed move from Ford.

I too am in group that thinks the interior lighting is way too dark at night. Turing on the overhead lights to try and read something is useless. My '24 KR will probably be the last F150 I buy, which is why I spent the money on the 10 yr./100,000 mile ESP w/$50 deductible, and plan to dive it for years to avoid paying more money for a lesser vehicle in the future. I fail to see the cost savings for Ford when a small option is included on one level truck, and it can't be ordered as a separate option on another level. The trucks are going down the same assembly line, I would think it would add to Ford's profit to add more options on a build. With today's AI and computing power, Ford should be able to figure this out. I ordered a KR this year instead of my usual Platinum because of the $6,000+ difference if you wanted a moonroof on a Platinum, basically the same trucks except the Platinum has a bed camera. Why the big cost difference? Wasn't sure I would like the cowboy themed interior, and I wasn't keen of the two-tone paint on the KR. In prior years you could elect to delete the two-tone paint, but not for '24 - why not. You would think it would be a cost savings for Ford to not do a two-tone paint. Ford should treat the key pad as a selling product for a Ford vehicle and promote the advantages of having one, yet they are deleting it - WHY, if people are willing to pay for it, why not offer it. The tooling and technology has already been expensed, why not continue to offer it. Who want to pay the bucks for some stick-on dealer option that could come unglued or be pried off by someone.

Way too many features going by the wayside and prices continue to increase. When it comes time to replace my Ford, I will also be looking at competitive vehicles - and I retired from Ford and qualify for the employee discount. But there comes a point that people are willing to pay whatever it takes to get the features they want from whoever they are available. And when you look closely, just how much difference is there between the different competitive models that are available.

Perhaps Ford is forced to discontent their ICE line to pay for the obscene money Farley is spending on his EV boondoggle. What percent of vehicle owners really want to buy an EV, and what proportion of money is spent developing them? What is the ROI on the ICE line vs EVs? I will NEVER buy an EV, at any cost, and I'm not alone in that feeling. How many current EV owners have buyer's remorse now when it comes time to trade in their vehicle, and they find out how much their vehicle has depreciated. What will happen to EV sales when the taxpayers stop funding them, will ICE vehicles have to be decontented further? The battery plant being built in Marshal, Michigan, has been enveloped in controversy from the beginning. Michigan's Governor, Nittwhitmer, handed out millions of taxpayer dollars in incentives to Ford on the premise of thousands of new jobs the plant would create. That plant has been scaled way back, and the promised jobs will not reach the lofty levels Nittwhitmer touted. Now the justice department is looking at joint ventures with Chinese companies, such as Ford's partner with that battery plant. What will happen if they tell Ford to dissolve that partnership? Look at what's happening with TikTok.

I really think Ford is getting off the track when it comes to building quality vehicles that customers want, expect, and desire. What happened to "The Customer is always right"?

And that's my rant for the day.

I remember the old days when all we got was one overhead light,
And it was finicky. We had to use whale oil instead of kerosene.

And to light ourselves after we rubbed sticks to flames.

Aren't you supposed to?
there are some styles that call for it, but those would also want the space before.

Ooh, and while being picky, I didn't point out that it was being used as a dash, which is done with two hyphens.

I remember job sites with kerosene fueled wicks on a small bowling bowl shape container. Circa 1959. Yes, I’m old.
