I won't let the truck set the speed.

Like others, on the highway or on outer road, it will often pick up the wrong sign.

It'll take you up to 70 in a 40. Not cool.

Then, there is this in a 40mph zone.

My truck often thinks the weight limit signs are speed limit signs and misadjusts accordingly. I reported the bug to Ford in '21 and it's still a problem with my truck.

Also when the road has the regular speed limit of 70 and then the towing speed limit of 55 it continually switches back and forth when it sees one of the signs.

It should recognize if you are in Tow mode then go with the tow speed, if you are in any other mode go with the regular speed.

The truck sees a speed limit sign and that is what changes the icon in your display. The icon will remain the same until the truck sees a different speed limit sign. It may be seeing a sign that is off of your road , but still visible to the camera. Unless something else is going on with your speed limit sign recognition software this is probably the case.
Not sure that’s the case. I had my 22 XLT show me a speed limit of 80, I was in a construction zone and I know it was 60 max, in fact in my state there are no 80 mph zones I’m aware of, so how does the Truck visual see these signs?

There's a spot by work that changed from 55 to 65, but they used the same sign and kind of just "wrote" over the old speed limit. My truck usually picks this up as 85 and begins to haul ass. Not great because I drive past it in the morning leaving work.

If I remember I'll try to pick it up tomorrow but it'll depend on traffic.

This happened to me the other night on a back road. Fortunately, it was obvious. I knew the speed limit was 35 and all of a sudden, it wanted it much higher.

A minor inconvenience. It'd be worse if it was minor enough that I didn't catch it but the cops did.

It happened with my truck the other day as well. While driving on a well marked 35 mph road, I glanced down at the speedo and it said 75. LOL. I haven't been able to recreate it again, and I drive the same road every day. ?

My truck does this on a back country road on my way to work. 55mph and no speed limit signs or any other street signs anywhere close and it will drop to 25mph. It's not ideal when the truck hits the breaks hard for no reason and someone is behind you. I normally just cancel cruise control when I get in that area.
I turned off the automatic speed limit changes for cruise control because the truck was so abrupt in its adjustments

I have stopped using cruise control with my 2022 truck thanks to this "feature". If a vehicle ahead is slowing down to move into another lane or even is in a different lane for exiting from the freeway the truck will slow down my 20 mph or more and increase the odds of my getting rear-ended by the motorist behind me - especially with so many inattentive drivers focuses on their cell phones instead of the road.

I have also disabled rear brake assist as when I have a bike rack installed the truck would keep braking again and again while backing out of my driveway. Yet another bit of programming by incompetent programmers who have no idea about first having use cases and then to start writing their code.

When even simple scenarios such as these create problems for the driver, I have zero confidence in the programming for self-driving vehicles. As computers have gained in power the training of competent programmers has gone in the opposite direction.

i turned off the speed sign recognition part that makes truck try to run the speed it see or detects
it scared the crap out of me on 2nd day
i was in a 35 school zone and as soon as i passed the zone, it jumped back to 70...truck took off like a shot and i about crapped my pants
now i just have the speed limit indicated on the speedo
The first time I used the speed limit sign recognition in 2021, I was driving on a toll road in Tampa called the Crosstown. On the way into downtown, in my F 150 Lariat I set the speed to 5 over 65 and it was cruising at 70. For some reason there is a stretch of highway where speed limit sign recognition is 85 so it started to accelerate to 90. Scared the crap out of me and I tapped the brakes to disengage the cruise control. I don't know what sign is on the parallel road that would make it recognize an 85 MPH speed limit where there is NO 85 MPH speed limit anywhere in the US. The same happened in my 22 Aviator. I turned the feature off because not only does it accelerate quickly to the posted speed it decelerates just as quickly if it reads an erroneous sign. Do yourself a favor and turn that feature off.

Does that trigger a speed change? I wouldn’t think that my truck would change on a sign like that…it doesn’t even change when it sees “speed limit XX ahead” signs or “school speed limit” signs, and those signs have the proper sign graphic embedded in it.

I do keep the automatic speed adjustment turned on, and it does occasionally read the wrong sign (most frequently on interstates with faster adjacent toll lanes in the center), but now that I know to look out for those situations, it’s easy enough to manually readjust the speed to the proper setting.

Yes. That weight limit sign makes my truck drive 55.

The speed sign recognition is not completely polished.. My truck gets confused by access road speed limits or by the toll lane speed limits..

HHowever, the vast majority of the time, it doesn't miss a speed limit change even when I go.. And it keeps me from getting a ticket.. So I am good with it missing once in a while..

Same. Especially, since so far, the only time it did something wrong, it was obviously wrong and I caught it immediately.
