My local Wally Worlds didn't have my Castrol in stock so I ordered from Amazon. 2 five quart jugs, in my carport this Thursday, $53.14. I'm good with that.

Amazon Prime. Just ordered 3 more 5 qt jugs,,,,,,,,$19.81/per. With NY sales tax that's pennies over $4/qt. I got a couple Ford OEM filters the other day using my Ford Pass points. I'm stocked up to do changes at 2500, 5000, and 10,000. Should probably take me a year & 1/2 to get to 10K.

Haven't tried Amazon oil but SuperTech tests well for me and it is cheap. Only name brand oil I use for anything is Rotella in the motorcycle. ?

Oil changes is by far the least costly aspect of owning and driving a car or truck. If I spend $100 to have it done every 7500 miles the cost per mile is $0.013. The true cost per mile of operation is provided by the IRS that allows an allowance for business use of $0.655 per mile.

If I drive to town some 40 miles round trip the cost for whatever I am buying is $26.20 plus the cost for the items purchased. I try to avoid unnecessary trips and try to get as much delivered to my house.

I go to a garage in town to have the oil and filter changed and this shop recycles the used motor oil. No need for me to store it and then drive to a place that with recycle the oil. If I can afford to spend $65,000 on a vehicle I can afford to have someone else change the motor oil.

Well afyer yesterday I may go back to doing it myself.
Over 100
But that 100 saves me from rotating tires, disposal of oil etc

But I needed an airfilter...my fault for forgetting to buy one before hand

Thanks for sharing the video - was a good watch. Did you switch over to Valvoline Restore Protect?
Based on my current usage it's a perfect fit and I'm using it.

I change my own oil. No sense paying someone for something I can do and enjoy doing. I sell my used oil to a buddy’s son. He burns it in his shop heater. No trip to the parts store, money in my pocket.

The money I spend at a local owner operated garage gets recyled in the local economy which is completely different than buying oil at Wal-Mart or Amazon or going to a quick lube chain store.

I used to lube the front end ball joints on my Chevy heavy duty truck but that was because they needed to be done every 3,000 miles and so did not match up with the oil changes for the engine at 7500 miles.

I typically own half a dozen different (higher end) vehicles at any given time, but that doesn't stop me from performing all maintenance (and much more, actually) myself.

The biggest reason is because I've seen some pretty shady stuff go on in garages and shops over my ~40 years owning vehicles, and doing it myself ensures that it was done and that it was done right.

The only exception has been my current 2021 F150. After a minor headache getting BlueCruise enabled on my Job 1 truck a year after I bought it, Ford gave me an extended maintenance plan with 12 free "The Works" packages at no cost. I'm not walking away from that kind of pure savings, but when they are gone, I'll be doing my own oil changes & tire rotations.
