2024 PowerBoost 502A with FX4. ~30K miles now and just had the transfer case output shaft seal replaced under warranty. Now whenever I let off gas and it goes to Electric, and then I press gas pedal again, it has a hard reengagement, like letting off the clutch too fast in a manual transmission. Thoughts or anyone else experience this?

Do you get this clunk occasionally or most every engagement?

Most every engagement. Last night was the first time that I observed that it also would no longer go back into Electric mode, even when I was actively driving softly to have it go back into it. I turned the truck off and on and it reset it's self to go back into Electric mode. Quite odd.

I get this too, but not severe. My suspicion is it is the clutch in the hybrid system that engages the engine. Mine mostly occurs when going down inclines under light loads. Hybrid warranty is 8/80.

Not sure about the clunk. Is it audible or just something you feel? You may want to crawl up under it and check to make sure everything is secure.

Also does it do it when in different drive modes or speed related? It's possible that when they did the work the transmission adaptive tables got screwed up and valve body pressures are all out of whack causing this behavior. Try putting it in different drive modes such as sport or eco to see how it responds. If it changes then might be worth clearing the adaptive tables with Forscan and then put about 150-200 miles on it in Sport mode.

I've noticed that since putting a bluetooth obd scanner and monitoring the PID's via for the hybrid system via Carplay mine will all but refuse to go into electric mode when the hybrid cell is below 50%. As soon as it hits that it will flip if I lift off the gas. Otherwise it'll keep the ICE on until it hits 60-63%. Even then sometimes I have to give the brakes a light tap to force it into electric mode.

Other than coming from a stop, if I'm not watching the tach, I can't tell when it switches from either mode.

yeah, there’s no clutch in the hybrid system. It would be the transmission auxiliary pump causing this problem.

I just read this again and I missed the fact that you had the transfer case output seal replaced.

Do yourself a favor and check your transfer case fluid level. I really don’t think it’s your problem. I think your problem is most likely the auxiliary transmission pump.

I just got a 2021 Lariat PB and I also feel a slight jerk when it goes from Electric to Gas.

There's an electric clutch that allows the system to decouple the ICE from the electric motor and transmission when it switches between the two. This can be a harsh engagement or so smooth you won't even feel it.

Has anyone had their Powerboost no longer go into Electric mode? Mine will start in Electric but once I accelerate enough to go into Hybrid mode, it will not go back to Electric mode. Even when I drive with soft acceleration/braking so it charges inside the display box.

I plan on it for sure. This blows my mind. A mix of highway, rural, and city driving and this is what I achieved.
