ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Tried it several times but still got the same error. I don't see DTC as TCU box shows green. Did I brick my TCU?

If it's green, then you're fine. Did the TCU come off the list?

The TCU update is still there. The last round of TCU update was not complted

Battery power supply was good the whole time during the update? Computer awake the whole time and good internet too? USB filename something short, 4 letters or less, and formatted EXFAT?

Sometimes you just have to end an FDRS session, shut the vehicle down completely. Unplug the Mongoose, maybe even reboot.

Point being, start fresh and get a new scan. Suddenly you get different results and overcome the previous obstacle.

Battery supply was good. I inserted the USB for update then I left for a while. When I came back, the console screen shows it will shut off. Then I restarted the update which causes the problem.

Restart the laptop. If the TCU is still there, reformat the USB, download the files onto it and try again. If it fails again, when fdrs asks if it went through and you select no, it will give you the option to CAN the update. It'll take about an hour and a half, but it'll work.

Thanks man. Tried it. But it doesn't take me to the usb download file step. It stuck in the module config step. My current SYNC version is 22087_PRODUCT. Is this version new enough?

The error of TCU SoftwareUpdate is "Procedure Unsuccesful - Cannot Encode HEX"

That Sync is very old. You still got several updates for the sync modules to do. You said you restarted the laptop, and FDRS is still stuck in the module config step?

Yes, FDRS is still stuck in the module config step with error "Procedure Unsuccesful - Cannot Encode HEX".

In the same place you did the read configuration, try the write configuration procedure, too. I'm thinking the TCU updated but the config part failed. Could be an issue on Ford's side. We'll reconvene tomorrow.
