In addition to the good suggestions above, if you’re ambitious consider upgrading your hard drive to an SSD. It’s easy to clone and swap out a hard drive, a 1TB SSD can be had for less than $80, a USB adapter to do the cloning is less than $10 and good cloning software can be downloaded for free. Your laptop is a little slow. It will work fine as is but an SSD will make it boot up and run much faster. Plus, an SSD is more resistant to bumps and short drops—a good feature in the garage.
This laptop doesn't have the SSD port to install one....next system will.

Same list you had on the 8th of June.

Thanks mike.
I wanted to see if it still showed the APIM needing a software update since my screen went black at the dealer on June 8th while they were trying to perform the update.

I received a power up update for 1.7.1 on Monday morning and right after that my screen came back so I wonder if that triggered the completion of the APIM software update the dealer was trying to perform.

There’s no special port for an SSD. Once you’ve cloned the hard drive onto the SSD, you just remove a panel on the laptop case to access the original hard drive, remove it and replace it with the SSD. SSD installs exactly the same way as the original—same data and power connections, same screws..

If you look on YouTube, there’s a good chance you’ll find a video of someone installing a new drive on your laptop or a close cousin.

Well, better late than never. Ford is finally learning a couple of important lessons: (1) check the battery before programming and make sure it’s fully charged; and (2) modules talk to one another—problems with one might be because of out of date software in others. Duh. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10214881-0001.pdf

I’m slowly getting all the gear and software licenses to attempt the update process. I have a couple questions.

I’ve read through pretty much all of this thread and noticed some users have problems with the USB update to the IPC module. I went into the testing menu and selected the connectivity test option. Almost everythingis in the “connected” state except the Instrument Cluster. That one says disconnected. Does this mean that it is not connected to the internal network as it should be? Would this indicate that I should expect the USB update to fail on this piece?

last but not least, when I look up my VIN in FDRS the APIM module has a blank entry for the SW part #. Does this mean that the last OTA didn’t complete or that there is one going on now?

Any words of advice is greatly appreciated. Also hats off to everyone here that has been so helpful and informative.

Before starting updates click the View CMDTCs button and then review them for your reference, and then with the truck completely turned on, do a clear and retest. Everything should come back green. Turn the truck off.

Run a network test.

On the blank spot in the APIM software location (could be blank, could say "ML3T-" or other nonsense) disregard. Click on the line that has your APIM and read in the "Module Details" below the line that is the DID F188. To the right of F188 is your software verison for the APIM. I believe the latest for trucks with BC is MU5T-14G676-EJ. @JEB, @Jesse-Infotainment, feel free to jump in here and correct me as necessary.

Sounds right to me. I don’t ordinarily do a clear and retest of CMDTCs as a matter of course but it’s not a bad idea If you are seeing a communication error. Even then, it will ordinarily fix itself. Shouldn’t preclude programming the IPC.

APIM info is spot on. Particularly the observation about the version info in FDRS module summary. Nonsense. Disregard..

That list of updates available for your truck would keep a fair number of fellas up at night just itching to plug into their ODB. :)

It's a very promising group of updates. Stuff just starts working much better. The whole truck as an ensemble. You're a patient man.
