@JEB same thing happens with mine when I run a scan and haven't moved the steering wheel. If I move before a scan, it will show green.
Don't know if it's coincidence but it makes me feel better when it's green.

There is some comfort in seeing green. But gray is not bad. It just means the module is not reporting, not that it’s malfunctioning. But I agree, green inspires more confidence.

Didn’t know that moving the steering wheel wakes up the PSCM, but it makes sense.

Currently stuck on installing the APIM. It downloads to my 32 GB USB but once inserted in my trucks port it does not. Waited for 20 + min with ignition and engine on and see no “update in process” message. Am I doing something wrong? Should I use a different USB? Should I wait longer?
USB is formated correctly.

I mean no disrespect but your question is strong evidence that you haven't read much of this thread.

It's not an uncommon scenario, but it is one that with patience has been overcome many times. What Sync version is your truck currently at?

I've spent my time on this forum and might of forgotten a thing or two lol it's good to know that this is normal. On the details of the truck, it shows blank when I look at the version. Is there a different location I can check?

You're likely stuck on 1.7.1 which via usb can happen randomly and in some cases (mine) can take over a month to kick it off. If you are so inclined you can buy the extra adapters and do the procedure which gets it unstuck. Otherwise it's a waiting game....

Did you do the GW first? That screen will not show a sync version due to the orig 1.7.1 ota that broke it is fixed or its midway between updates. My guess is you need a gw update.

How do I check if the GW is updated? I'm only showing the following for updates.

Thanks for being a good sport with my attempted good-natured jab.

As suggested above, you can just leave that usb stick in the truck and return to your normal daily use. Eventually, and without rhyme or reason, it'll kickoff the update and then from that point forward your FDRS updates can pretty much be done back to back.

More than a few here now have fully updated trucks after experiencing exactly what you are confronted with. It's just a delay.

Over a month! Wow didn't know it will take that long. Can I leave the USB plugged in while I'm driving? What extra adapters would I need if I want to go that route?

Mine took that long, others had it quicker. Yes you can just leave it plugged in, won't hurt it.

If you have time, doesn’t hurt to try another USB and also make sure it’s blank & formatted correctly.
These 4 Docs are my go to, great read and don’t just skim through.

If anyone can can look up my vin and tell me if I ever gotten any OTAs. I’ve never seen Ford Pass notifications . I also got the updated integrated trailer brake modular recall. How do you know if you’re stuck on 1.71 Sync shown nothing. Thanks
