Some of these updates took me by surprise on just how big they were and how long they took. The IPC took 4 hours. The back and forth of the GWM and APIM's which I think the biggest was a 6 GB transfer to the USB drive takes several hours for each one.
I am in the tech field, and I get it, networks have issues. But I barely got my updates done before my license expired because of the all-day Sunday and most of Monday morning outage. I think Ford, Motorcraft whoever needs to make the license a one week for $50 just for this reason. JMHO

The target audience is dealers and automotive shops that will purchase a month or year at a time. We are lucky they have short term subscription as an option.
Using USB 3.0 storage and ports on laptop it was not hours but a decent time to load the files for sure.

I see lots of posts on both forums with people on same version I was on. It's a long process to update from 22177. The IPC update next in line kept failing on my truck OTA and USB didn't work either. Long 6 hour CAN install.

I pinch myself everytime I log into FDRS.
I can't believe it's available to me at all. Much less for $50 for a couple of days.

It's $200 an hour for someone else to plug my truck in. And we all know how that can often go.

Me using FDRS is less than a buck an hour. It's a $teal!

Ford F-150 ECU module programming guide using FDRS imag

Finally running through the rest of the updates. Did the BCM and got this after. Is this process straightforward? Not sure what steps are in the workshop manual

That step took I think less than 30 seconds. It looks more scary than what it is.

Ok, I have a question and I swear I did at least 10 searches and read 40 pages of this thread at a minimum and couldn’t find an answer on my own. So, here it is.

Do you have to have/use a mongoose with FDRS to be able to update all the modules OR can it be done with ONLY an FDRS subscription and a USB drive?

You need to have the Mongoose. Ask me how I know….or just read my posts from today. It sucks that it’s 530$ but trust me, I’d pay for it again in a heartbeat to avoid the butt puckering situation I went through today. Thank the good lord for Jesse and all they guys in this thread helping out.

So I updated almost everything I could
Got sync to 22293, Alexa showed up and full screen
Then did one more GWM update that was available, and Alexa went poof bye bye lol hoping I give it 24 hours and it comes back. I see one more APIM available, but getting a “Procedure Unsuccesful - GetConfig DataFromGIVIS” error… anyone experience this?

Probably issues with servers as someone had earlier.

It’s server-related. Follow this SSM to perform an additional procedure before re-trying to update the APIM. Although it’s for the GSM, you should be able to tailor it for the APIM:

SSM 51407 2021-2022 Various Vehicles - SYNC 4 - Procedure Unsuccessful - GetConfigDataFromGIVIS Error Message
Some 2021-2022 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 4 may experience an error message during the gateway module (GWM) software update application which states Procedure Unsuccessful- GetConfigDataFromGIVIS. This may be the result of a server related concern. To correct the condition, download and run the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) application GWM-Read the Gateway Module A (GWM) Configuration Data application. When the application completes, refresh and re-attempt the GWM-Gateway Module A (GWM) Software Update application. For claiming, use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

I had the exact same scenario last night. My license was good through yesterday too, so I’ll probably have to buy another today to see if the APIM is working now. I was assuming it was FDRS having issues again

If you see an update in your available software list that you know you just applied, re-run the network scan once or twice to see if it drops off. If you try to run the update again and you get the "GetConfigDataFromGIVIS Error" it's entirely possible that the reason is it's already applied the update but the server data hasn't been refreshed.

This happened (and still is happening) for lots of folks doing the latest powertrain updates for the '21 Mach-E. They run the powertrain coordinated updates and are returned to the available list that shows the PCM still needs to be done...with a download button that's now 'green' and says "Run" (which is another clue that you've already done that one).

Hitting the re-run network scan button once, maybe twice (depending on your internet connection) should make it drop off.
