Redesign being that they'll disable it in the vicinity of dealerships because they're getting called out too often for doing nothing to trucks since introducing the feature...

LOL. That's the most benefit I've received from it yet! I can tell when my truck sat for days without any work done at the dealership!

I don't know if you are still having the same trouble with the USB APIM update but if so, here's what I'm trying. I got in contact with Ford's OTA department and explained the issue that I am not getting any updates. They gave me a case number and sent that to the dealer to check and I made an appointment and mentioned the case number. I didn't tell the dealer I tried an APIM update though. I want to see if they see the USB 0 error themselves and I don't want to bias them. I'll let you know how that goes, if you'd like. I am not going down the FDRS path yet because a USB APIM update would likely be required and that may not work.

Are there any issues doing a PMI on the BCM or CMR modules? Anything like follow up calibrations or the such?

Hey all. This seems to be the most comprehensive fdrs thread out there so had to join. Getting a funky java error thought maybe somebody has run into. Have tried uninstalling, and reinstalling fdrs with latest version, updating vci software (Using VCM2) to no avail.

Any insight appreciated, thanks for reading

Did anyone else get FDRS install errors? I installed the program 3 times and every time it told me there was an error with the software, but it seems to launch just fine. I haven't purchased a license or anything yet as I am still waiting on my Mongoose cable

VCM2 is a solid cable. Rotunda or clone? I haven’t seen this error before but have you tried updating Java itself to see if it helps? https://www.java.com/en/download/more_info.jsp. It’s a long shot.

EDIT: Also, double check which device you’re selecting in VCI manager. Unlike those of use who use J2534 devices, the VCM2 (which I think shows up as VCMII) is directly supported by Ford.

There is a known issue with the license server and it will throw an error occasionally. Maybe that's what you're encountering.

It's a rotunda. Java up to date. I ran a pmi on another module just to check but this one is a brand new cruise module with normal communication.. starting to think I've just got a bad module

Yeah, it sounds like your cable and software are fine. Are you answering “no” to original module when prompted?

It doesn't get that far, it just gets to the turn ignition off screen-that's why I've been digging because it just seems it can't be a module issue. It reportedly will require nastf credentials (which I have) but never prompts to enter them

Try the recovery procedure in the the shop manual. Disconnect the VCM2, log in and then input the VIN manually without doing a network scan. Once you’ve pulled up the vehicle data, then reconnect the VCM2 and then run the PMI. If this doesn’t work, I’m out of ideas.

Thanks JEB, I'll try that in the morning.
Jesse, this module was installed at factory, replacement for physical damage.
I just had another ford product roll in and IDS was unable to program that CCM so now I'm really starting to think it's something on their end. I was able to use as built data on that one though. I haven't figure yet in fdrs how to manually input the as built like in ids.
