I keep going back and forth on which one I think is more fuel efficient. From my experience, eco reduces throttle input and allows a little more acceleration in electric mode. When in normal mode, it drops out of electric mode with less throttle input, but accelerating to cruising speed is fast allowing you to utilize the electric system longer. What mode do you prefer and which one do you think is more efficient for your style of driving?

Honestly I cannot tell a difference in overall efficiency in Eco vs Normal. The only noticeable different (to me) is the way it prevents you from flooring it so your takeoffs aren't super-inefficient. Its really hard for me to discern any difference in the shifting strategy or electric/ICE balance, but for sure the leadfoot prevention is there in Eco.

So at this point, I just use Eco to get a slightly different color scheme for a change when I get bored of the blue (Normal).

On mine, Normal seems to keep some of the characteristics of your last mode. For example, if I put it in Sport for a drive then the next time I start it will be in Normal but still be in 4A/All wheel drive. If I do the same thing in Eco, the Normal is 2 wheel drive and seems to act like Eco.

I messed with the modes the first month of ownership. I haven't touched it since. Stays on normal all the time. The one thing I didn't like when checking the modes out was the truck wouldn't stay in the selected mode after restarting without having to reconfirm on the screen.

You're right, it would be better if it stayed in the last mode selected.

I feel the electric motor kicks in faster on eco. Ive gotten 28-30mpg around town many times on eco.
Closer to 24 on normal. Just me though.

Normal/2H seems to be the most fuel efficient for me, though it isn't a big difference in MPG compared to Eco. Sport mode is the most fun, but Normal gets the job done.

I don't know about turning off ads, but you can fix what google thinks you want to some extent. If you click the little triangle in the upper right corner of the ad you can set all kinds of preferences (like uncheck stupid stuff not relevant to you at all)

Interesting.. My observations on the 22 when in Eco is the electric motor almost never kicks in when on surface streets at maintained speeds between 30-50. Flip it to normal and the electric motor will regularly take over generally within 1/8 to 1/4 mile on the same driving conditions. Sooner if I back off the throttle just a little bit. In Eco backing off the throttle and the ICE stays running. Same behavior in Tow mode as Eco. Normal so far at least seems to provide the best overall mix of electric/gas powered driving.

Now granted I only have about 180 miles on it and the adaptive systems are still doing their thing but so far I've managed nearly 40 miles in electric mode as much of my daily drives are on surface streets.

My guess, based on my own driving, is that Eco is overusing the battery. Under a certain percent charge on the hybrid battery and the truck won't go to electric only unless you're braking. It also doesn't use the engine to recharge the battery if load demand is too high (don't know what that load is though). Eco mode is probably keeping the battery from charging as well as it does in normal mode, reducing your fully electric mileage.

Maybe different environments and road conditions etc play a part. I usually use Normal or sport but anytime I have gotten my highest mpg trips was during eco. It seems to just come on quicker and stay on longer for me personally.
