Perhaps I missed another thread on this, but is anyone getting better fuel economy out of ECO mode? I‘ve ran a few tests over the past few months and my MPG is significantly worse using ECO than just normal. It seems that ECO really wants to keep the HV battery SOC around 56%, whereas normal allows the battery to drop to 46% and increase to 64%. As best I can tell, ECO is only useful to introduce lag when the accelerator is pressed.

Only time I found eco mode useful was when on cruise control. Don’t try to accelerate as quickly and typically during downshift when speeding back up after Car moves out of the way. Otherwise my experience with eco is the same as yours.

From my experience, it mostly softens throttle response so it evens out the acceleration a bit. As above, I mostly use it when using cruise control on the interstate - otherwise it aggressively tries to get back to the set speed - especially with a tune...
