A lot of oddball parts, if anything fails. If you're thinking server rack batts, its been tried. They don't take the vibration well.

What would that do to your carrier warranty?
The box and hitch carrier would be crucial to get right. No doubt. Carrier Warranty? Help me with that please

Carrier = the truck and chassis.

Mounting an aux, non standard alternator to the engine, right?

Yes with a bracket designed for dual alternator operation, only I would keep the connections isolated from the Ford systems. Just 2/0 welding cable running back to the power unit

I understand but the question holds about the warranty.

Here is how Dynamax handles it on their extreme version.

Another Dynamax. You get a peek at min mark 36:30, with a promise of more detail to come.

Well, I don’t exactly know, but I can certainly remove the alternator and install the original bracket, unstrap any visible cabling, unplug the power unit, and remove the hitch carrier before taking it in to have the lifters replaced under the warranty 😊

They are selling a pipe dream. 1000W of solar will take 8 hours to charge 480A/hr with no draw. It’s a death spiral without a generator

Ok.

My system cost right around 7K, doing all the work ourselves and includes some specialty tools that I didn't have.

If any piece of it goes down, I could have a replacement the next day, or within a few at the most. Depending on what goes down, I could just take the bad part out of the system, wire around it and still be more or less whole.

If your transformer goes down, you're done.

If the alternator blows a diode, or the inverter lets the smoke out, then yep. I’d be down to my house batts and my 4K inverter generator again. Right where I am now.

I sure don't want to discourage ingenuity and would be interested in what you decide.

Its just that the wheel has already been invented.

Yep this is exactly the route I'd go, except if use different batteries. Battle Born are great batteries but they are way too expensive now. And I say that as someone who has recommended them to others in the past and helped to install them on my parents houseboat.

I didn't use them either. There was a time when it was them, or junk but there are several solid, mid tier brands now.

Running the aircon full time, requires a substantial system. The second Dynamax vid does. Combo of 1400W solar, large battery bank and built in generator. They're off grid, almost all the time.

I used the travel trailer version of this.

Competitively priced and if you buy from them, you get lifetime support.

Here’s a simpler, albeit less powerful way to make use of the industrial V8 beauty.

Perhaps a combination of 800W of solar, 2400W at idle from Godzilla ( jumping to over 4000W when underway), and 600W from the FlexPower through the PD4000 will do the trick.

I didn't use a DC to DC charger, because I could show no harm to the truck from the batts and having PPOB in my back pocket but on any other vehicle, I would. They have 50A models now, that wring the most out of your existing alternator, without hurting it.

I would say, that as the fine tuning of the design happens, especially concerning the batts and a decision to get "one more" or not ... There is a place where switching to the Cube, is a price competitive alternative, with space and quality of life advantages.
