Today in my Ford Pass app I got the dreaded battery saver mode message.

For the past week it kept trying install an update for the window module but kept failing because it says there was interrupted so I wonder if this drained the battery. Many people seemed to be also having issues installing this windows module update recently.

My battery was replaced by the dealer when I bought it in March of this year because it was dead after sitting on the lot too long. I know everyone says the Motorcraft batteries are garbage but can it fail like this in 9 months?

My OEM battery lasted about 18 months before I replaced it. Battery just wouldn’t charge above 60 percent or so. Truck was putting out nearly 15v and the battery was only drawing an amp or so and resting voltage was about 12.3. I put it on a tender several times and it didn’t matter. I also had trouble with the door update which is why I started looking into it. I don’t have a power boost so it’s not as obvious that it was starting to fail but it did. I’ve seen several accounts of them going bad in less than a year on here

did your door update complete successfully after installing the new battery?

It stopped trying. I’m waiting for it to try again but I don’t think battery state of charge is gonna limit it the next time it tries

I’ve already had one battery replaced under warranty and now this battery is failing too.

I had my 2008 4Runner forever and replaced the battery exactly once.

this truck is making me question ever owning another ford product again.

replaced transmission, headlight, window switch, rear axle bolt failure, battery, and a bunch of other stuff. I don’t believe this truck will last past its factory warranty.
