When I picked up my truck at Granger a month ago, Chip showed me a button to push to disable it, top left on center of dash. Not a permanent fix, because he said I'd have to do it every I start the truck. Not sure it all the trucks have this, but it's a regular part of my routine now.disable auto start stop if you haven’t yet. that sh*t is atrocious for motor starters.
I love that you didn't describe the necessity to reach all the way over to the button and press it as a joy sapping task of life. ?When I picked up my truck at Granger a month ago, Chip showed me a button to push to disable it, top left on center of dash. This is kind of off topic and after the fact but when you get your truck back disable your auto start/stop.Looking for some hive mind opinions.
Went to jump in my truck after parking it 5 minutes earlier, push the start button nothing happens, gets towed to Ford. 2021 ecoboost, under 18k miles, and nearly the entire time I have owned it the battery has been low enough that the autostart stop never kicks in. I drive the truck 5-6 days a week for 10 minute trips and the occasional long drive. They say the starter is the issue. My 3 year warranty expired two months ago and this is going to cost me $1,100.
I thought these starters were rated for an insane amount of starts, any idea if this is a known issue? $1,100+ is a huge bummer for a new truck should I have not used Ford (I thought it would be covered by power train)?
Any idea if they will give me the old starter or if there is a core charge or something? I am a mechanical engineer and would love to take a look at it, possible have some spare parts if this happens again?
Yep and if your start stopping 50 times in a one mile stretch that's way too many cycles to last long...Auto start-stop... Don't like that feature as it puts alot more cycles on the starter. The reason, I think, Ford went to the belt starter was to reduce the cycles on the ring-gear starter. To my way of thinking the starter lifetime is measured in start stop cycles rather than miles...
Dont thinkl I would be taking my truck back to them!!!!For $1100, I didn't even get a free bolt. Or maybe They felt I owed them more and they traded me a bolt for a zip tie. They didn't even trim the tail.
Seems weird I felt the need to crawl under the truck this morning to actually make sure they replaced the starter.
