I have a 24 PB 3.5L and anytime I hit the gas pedal it takes a good second or two for the transmission to ackowledge that I've hit the pedal and it actually kicks in.

Now I understand that the battery takes priority and then engine will kick on for more power.

This happens in either case,

  1. If im driving and engine is already engaged its delayed
  2. OR if im driving and engine is off, using battery, i hit gas pedal its still very delayed to acceerlate and then kick on the engine.
the delay im experiencing is a good 1-2 seconds. So its foot press pedal. 1 second, 2 second, then power kicks in.

Is this normal for most of you? Like I said other power boosts ive driven are instaneous like a regular non hybrid truck would drive.

Taken it to the dealer and they said its normal but I know its not since i've compared it to other vehicles.

Anyone have the same issue maybe got it fixed?

Sounds like turbo lag to me.

One of two second delay certainly is not turbo lag, they’re basically is zero turbo lag on my 24

Put your truck in sport, deactivate the traction control……..see what happens.

Here is an example of sitting in park, applying the pedal, and the rpms do not increase for a good 1 to 2 seconds after i apply my foot. I am applying my foot on the pedal almost half way everytime.

This is in normal mode.

Examples above are sitting in park revving it but even while driving straight, apply pedal, still takes 1-2 seconds to actually accelerate. It will delay acceleration, then it'll spool up and catapult forward.

Even de-accelerating seems off. It speeds up and slows down off from what i apply gas pedal and break.

Also gears 2-4 are jerky. It is not a smooth acceleration once i do get acceleration.

Here is driving on the road, already moving. I apply my foot around .5s / 1s. it then takes 2 seconds to engage and actually accelerate.

I checked mine, i have a 25 PB, mine is way more responsive than that, we all know these pedals are just reiostats, IMO, I think you have a defective pedal, find a better dealer. I betting it's the pedal.

If you must stick with the same dealer, maybe try to get the Service Manager to go for a test drive with you. Otherwise, I would try a different dealer.

Yeah i took a few techs on a test drive at 2 dealers so far. Each dealer said its "normal" its not normal. Bc i can test drive another vehicle on their lot and prove it. Theres another dealer i will try. Such a pain in the ass having to find a dealer to actually give a shit about the issue and then actual want to fix it bc its a problem.

Maybe you want to reset the ECM (battery disconnect) and let it relearn.
Have you try in Sport mode ?

Wow - how timely! I'm having this issue - very intermittantly, and seems like its happening when I slowly roll thru STOP and making a hard right or left turn.

Only happens 1 in 20 times (estimating) but has happened enough to get me concerned.
I am guessing the electric/gas transition dynamics or a software glitsch = maybe its an "anti roll" safety mechanism???

Glad you're posting - seems like there's an issue here FORD needs to address. Most of my slow turns are in our 25 mph neighborhood with no traffic, but other day turning out of our neighborhood onto the main street (45 mph) the delay was longer - 2-3-4 seconds - no traffic, but I can see where in a high traffic situation this could become a serious problem.

Following this discussion.
