Delayed Transmission Engagement

My 2022 Powerboost has an issue where it sometimes takes up to 3 seconds after I put it in Drive before the gear engages. And when it does take the gear, it is a very abrupt jerk.

It seems to happen only when the truck is warm and has been running for a while. Any ideas?

Man, I noticed that but I figured that's just how it was supposed to sound.

I picked this thing up used with 4k miles, close to MSRP. I thought I had hit a jackpot because it has every option that I wanted, the exact configuration I was looking for. Now I'm thinking that this truck was traded in so soon because it has this transmission problem.

Yea, I've had a few F150's with the console shifter and this is the second Gen14 with the fold down. I quickly learned to be gentle and smooooth with it because I get the feeling that the switch mechanism internally isn't exactly robust.

It could very well be that yours was handled roughly previously?

It sounds like the button to disengage the shifter is not pushed in all the way. Then you get that kind of "grinding" sound.

The guy that owns the Dealership where I buy my trucks slams his around as well. I actually asked if he has ever busted one, he said he hasn't. He also smokes like a chimney in his vehicles, i was rather surprised by that, he just said he has staff to clean the vehicles up when he is done.
