nope, the only fix is to turn your DRL off. Access the setting from your screen.
It was nice while they worked!

it’s a lightbulb, I actually a light assembly. I don’t even believe the extended warranty covers lights.

as much as I hate to say it, fancy features come with high replacement cost.
The Ford Extended Warranty DOES cover it if you spend the few bucks on the LED light coverage add-on (now $100, was $70 when I bought it)

It’s a pretty common problem with these trucks, and it sends my OCD into overdrive.

There is a video where someone broken the headlight down and worked to identify the problem. The LED and ballast are usually good but what’s happening is the light is transferred from the LED through a clear fiber optic type medium. This is what gives it the clean consistent light distribution all the way down the headlight. There are two LEDs on the panel and two separate tubes, one for the vertical and one for the horizontal.

what is happening is the vertical tube is sitting too close to the LED diode. Over time it’s heating up and eventually burns a spot into the tube. This blocks the light from passing through cleanly resulting in the dim or absent light we see. The lights still work and I would venture to say it’s not an electrical problem at all. If you were able to disassemble the light and shave off the burnt piece, the light would work again.

Those of us without the light warranty are forced to find solutions on our own. I don’t know what I’ll do exactly but it drives me nuts knowing it’s even there.

For the record, I never used Forscan to increase the brightness. This is just a standard problem.

If anyone finds a simple fix, pass it along. Unfortunately these assemblies just weren’t made to be taken apart.

Cheers!

I have a 2021 with 60k miles, right side part of the oled died I got one at ebay and replaced it, now the left side died. They say it is suppose to last 60k hours this is crazy a truck that cost over 50k and you have this simple issue. My truck also had a issue with transmission 4x already one started at 30k I came from a chevy truck never had any issues before.

My 21 passenger side DRL failed at 66k miles. The driver side is now dim yellow at 67k miles. Both headlights failed pretty close to the same time. I'm seeing them all of the road now with the same issue. Ford needs to address this. I'm not spending over 2k to replace with headlights that have the same flaw.

don't hold your breath..

That's why the new models look like they have two separate light bars

Well, if you're were willing, you could bake or use a heat gun to open the housings up to access the LED board for the DRL array. One guy on Youtube did this to discover that the acrylic or polycarbonate rods that sat right against the LEDs got burnt due to the heat. You might be able to cut off the burned part and polish the end so it will allow light to pass down the rod again. If successful you could reassemble the headlight housing and seal it back up.

It would be time consuming, mostly due to how long it would take just to open it up. And there's a risk of damaging components (if baked) or cracking the clear housing if not being extremely careful as you try to remove it. But it might be a project one could do if the headlights are replaced so you can have spare(s).

This is my 7th F-150 and after finding out it is 2k to replace the passenger side DRL, it will be my last. With all the reported issues Ford is having with the DRL’s on the F-150, they should make good and do something about it instead of sticking it to the customer.
