So I picked up my 2022 Lariat high PB about 3 weeks and love everything about the truck but I was looking at my Ring camera app and noticed a few times throughout the night where the running boards deployed by themselves, both set of keys are in the house and my truck is parked outside. So I figured to go to the previous nights video and saw the something happening. Even saw the "zone lighting" turn on for a few seconds and then off. I have only 350 miles and its a $72k+ truck so I would not expect these kind of issues. I do not want it to be doing this throughout the whole night and the next thing you know, my battery is dead and can't start the truck. Has anybody seen or heard anything about this issue I am having?

TIA

I've had my truck less than a week, but have noticed the right side doors require a harder shut or else the running boards will stay deployed/puddle lights on. If I shut it like normal you can tell it's not shut all the way since the door isn't flush with the body. This usually gives off an alarm when the truck is on, but no indication when it's off besides the running boards and lights. I haven't had time to look at it yet.

Might not be your issue, but could be something easy to look into.

Thanks for your reply. You are definitely right about the doors needing the harder shut but all my doors were shut and the truck was locked as my mirrors were folded in and the running boards were tucked in. But in the middle of the night, mirrors were still folded in but the running decided to have a mind of its own. Last summer I had somebody try to break into my 2018 F150 (it was locked) so now I always check and double check to make sure all my cars are locked. I had some deer on my driveway last night and that's when I looked at the camera and noticed my running boards trying to interact with the deer.

To eliminate the easiest explanation (doing "welcome" functions, deploying running board, and surround lighting, due to sensing the key fob), for 1 night, wrap both fobs in aluminum foil and place in a metal can and move to the opposite end of the house.

I was recommended by the dealer to turn off the 'welcome lighting' and board deployment. Apparently the range is pretty good on it, and sometimes can get triggered like this. It's a cool feature, but I'd like to minimize the amount of cycles on my boards as much as possible.

My wife has a habit of keeping her keys in her purse, and I noticed as she drove in with her car (before I disabled it), that the boards would deploy and lights would come one. 2 seconds in the menu solved that. Now I just hit the unlock button on the fob and they deploy and the lights come on, no big deal to me.

Thanks for help guys, finally got it figured out. My dining room window faces my driveway and my truck was all the way down the driveway. I had my keys on the dining room table, which would be about maybe 20-25ft from the truck, and that was triggering the running boards and the welcome light every once in a while throughout the night. I moved my keys to the bedroom last night and throughout the night the running boards stayed tucked in and no welcome lights were coming on, all my "issues" disappeared. I am really surprised on the range of the key fob, I just will not keep it on my dining room table anymore. Thanks again everybody!!

I like the Welcome feature so I keep it enabled, but I also was concerned about the number of cycles in and out on the running boards as I messed around the truck (in the garage) with fob in my pocket.

I found the Sync setting that sets the "timeout" for Running Board retract to 5 minutes. That works great. It will still retract immediately when you drive away or when you lock the vehicle. But when it's just sitting there (unlocked) and I'm walking in and out of the garage doing other stuff it does NOT continually cycle (unless of course I move out of range for over 5 minutes).

This has cut down a lot of the cycling.
