Cordless impact wrench for light home use?

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up getting the Dewalt 20v high torque model. That Milwaukee Fuel is rated the best, but I figured I can use the Dewalt batteries on my drill and saw as well. Thanks again.

Yea, I do have a 20v dewalt drill, I’m sure the 20v Max batteries would work but would probably go up to a larger one on the impact (4ah) or so.

I still use my 18 volt dewalt with a 4ah 20v with the dewalt adapter. I've had the wrench for more years than I can remember.

I’m looking for a good all around battery operated impact wrench for light home use. I’ve borrowed my neighbor’s for the last time last week doing my brakes lol.

Anyone have a preference? Mid torque (350ish) or high (750ish)? I’ve been looking at mostly dewalt and Milwaukee fuel, but open to suggestions. My neighbors is a cheaper craftsman that works pretty good, but doesn’t have the greatest reviews.

I have a 600 lb M18 torque wrench. Magnificent. Perfect for wheels, lawn mower blades.. anything really tight. 3 settings. Biggest thing i have used it on is replacing E300 lower control arms. making a giant job.. just really a few minutes. good luck.

Pick a brand and stick with them so you have multiple batteries to use on multiple tools. I've been with DeWalt for several years with zero issues or complaints. I also have 3 of the impact wrenches simply because when the sales are great for the multi-tool packs, they usually come with the impact wrench. And sometimes the multi-tool packs are cheaper than buying just one tool.

I have a few Ryobi plug-in tools that I use for woodworking - a belt sander, drill press, and bandsaw. They're not too bad for the price point, but if I used them more than every once in a while, i'd probably upgrade.

I bought an inexpensive cord model as using a 25 ft extension cord is not a problem. No need to recharge the batteries before a job.

I used this one to break free the anode connection on my hot water heater and it worked perfectly.

I have had problems with batteries failing and not being able to find new ones. Spending $225 for a DeWalt 20v impact wrench is more than I would pay considering the few times I really need one.

IMHO, the undisputed champ of mid-torque impact gun is the Dewalt DCF891.

But spend some time watching Torque Test Channel on YouTube.

ehh, I've had good luck with them, but a circular saw wore out, and an impact driver managed to lose its ability to latch.

Father and little brother were already invested in ryobi 18v, and showed up with them to help when the tenants nearly destroyed my house, and I got more of the same.

I just ordered one of their impact wrenches, 1,170 ft./lbs. Breakaway Torque with 4Ah battery for $139 on a Black Friday special.

Their 18v blower is no match for my 80v ryobi, though!


and same for the cord trimmer.

I have a lot of the M12 Milwaukee tools and they serve my needs pretty good. I have the impact wrench and does good. I noticed with the bigger M12 batteries it has more power than the smaller ones.
