Conversion to paddle shifters is it possible?

Quick question that I can’t seem to find an answer for.
What is the rubber block inside the steering wheel for? Can I install my steering wheel without it?

I highly suggest doing the heated version at the same time.

Does anyone know what the connector is called that can be used to like the plug and play conversion harnesses? I’d make my own harness but no clue what plug I would need. Looks like it just the same connector that plugs into the shifter itself.

How could I go about finding the part number to this connector(the gray connector/plug)? If I could find these I would rather just put together a harness that I could easily remove if necessary.

I was able to find all parts to make a wire harness that’s plug and play using the same wires you tapped @superfordman. Mainly it’s just to give myself a project. I have to pull my console apart for the shifter swap soon so I’ll do it in all one go round.

I finished my project tonight. I wanted the paddle shifters to work and look the most factory that I could do with wiring and make it reversible if needed to ever take in for warranty issue. I searched for the connector and thought I found it but I learned that if one is gray and one is black that means they are ever so slightly different. So I took a hot knife (razor held over a candle) and trimmed the connector to make it work.

I was not going to spend $200 on a wiring harness that is barely $40 in parts. I spent $37 on enough parts to make multiple of these. I ended up in a trial and error process so out of the 50 terminals I ordered, I am left with 1. Whoops.

At the end of the day this was a fun project to not only work on but learn about some new things like proper wire crimpers and never trust amazon for proper wire gauge. Thought I had 20AWG when in fact after completing the first two trials discovered it was closer to 22-24AWG.

I could have made it a little longer and tucked the factory connector out of the way but I couldn’t really get my hands there AND it was a 100% afterthought.

But now my paddle shifters work!

Realize not quite the right generation but if anyone was curious my 25 Tremor with the 502a package was NOT pre-wired. Also looks like maybe some of the harness wiring is different color.

Anyone do this on a 25 yet?

Has anyone found the paddle shifter connectors and aftermarket paddles?

I’m wanting to do an aftermarket wheel in my 21 XLT but there is an expectation that you already have the raptor connectors…
