Anyone have any close calls with their F150, but had the safety features of their new truck help them out. This could be your truck stopping you before you back into something, or applying the brakes before you rear end someone, or helping you stop faster when a deer jumps out in front of you, ect.

Just curious if anyone has any stories. I know part of the appeal of buying a new truck is being able to take advantage of new safety features, but I was just curious if there was any real world experiences out there where your truck saved the day.

Yep, wouldn't really call it a close call, but the BSM / cross traffic alert stopped the truck backing out of a tight spot. Wouldn't have been able to see the guy coming down the parking lot without it. More valuable to me in that situation than driving on the highway where I can check my own blind spot. ??

A couple days ago the collision alert sounded and kept me from rear ending someone.

I Purposely tried to back into my trash cans to see if the nanny would work and it did..

I do like the cross traffic alert. It has helped me a dozen times.

The cross-traffic alert has helped me countless times (both in the new F150 and my other vehicles) to keep me from backing out of my driveway into oncoming traffic with limited visibility. This is the first vehicle that I've had with parking sensors and the 360 cameras--those have been fantastic for helping me navigate tight parking spaces with this bigger vehicle and avoid hitting other cars, or trees, or other obstacles. After seeing it in action, I wouldn't buy another large vehicle without those features.

Backing out of the driveway it slammed the brakes when it noticed approaching traffic and didn't sense I was trying to stop. I normally back out and stop right at the end of the driveway and look before getting in the road but the truck does not know that. :D Also, I was WOT on the highway and my gas pedal got caught on my floor mat and stayed WOT....did you know if you hit the brakes aggressively with the gas WOT the truck cuts/reduces power? Yeah...that saved my hide.

I moved it back and a little bit to the left. I may have to replace it. Don't really want to because it's a nice rugged floor mat. :(

Ouch! I had a deer strike last month too. Truck has been at the body shop for 3 weeks. They gave me a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross to drive during repair. Absolutely horrid vehicle.

my truck momentarily slowed or paused just enough to change the speed , distance closure rate when a deer that leaped out from side of road
i have video on you tube from my dash came. truck slowed hard enough to dipped hood slightly then sped back up. nor really sure if truck did this or was in concert with my foot, but my foot didnt move that fast. i know the system is not set up for it, but it saw something and took action.

i have also had it SLOW real fast 65 to about 45 or so and swerve to right to avoid a person that stopped short in front of me at 65 mph so they could turn left on a 2 lane road, truck swerved into emergency lane and then resume speed faster than i could react.
saved my bacon.

and stop and go road construction it kept me a safe distance and speed which made it a less stressful situation and allowed me to watch around me better.

I'm pretty sure I turned off the reverse brake assist, and I wish I didn't.

Was backing out of a spot across the street from my friends house on a dark/rainy/foggy morning in the tall grass (had to parallel park the day before to fit in between it and another large truck), and didn't see a small sized tree (was maybe 3 inches round, and the top was taken off, so it was just a touch taller than the tailgate).
Was going maybe 2 mph, and the sensors were going nuts in front and back because of the high grass.

The local body shop is quoting this at ~2k (replacement bumper and moldings, and popping and fixing the tailgate). Waiting on the parts to come in to get this fixed. I should have just slept in and waited until there was more daylight. I've never had a car with this many sensors (or a 360 camera) but can't believe I didn't see how close I was getting. This is my first truck, so I am still getting used to how large it is and I am used to parking in lots way away from everyone to avoid someone hitting me.

I'm sure this won't be the last time I hit something/something hits me. But shows no matter how much tech is there, the driver can still be an idiot (and I for sure was one!).

Brakes kicked on when I was backing out of a parking spot. apparently it determined I was moving a little too quickly and wasn't going to stop before I backed into a car. I still had about a foot or 6 inches, but probably should have been going a little slower. Scared the shit out of me.

Trim the offending section of mat with a utility knife or some EMT scissors. The mat should also have a stud or something in the back to secure it to the floor.
