I don’t mean to sound like a dick guys, and I know I do but this is the second time I’ve asked the same question and instead of getting help I get a lecture how it’s dangerous to pull a trailer with lights off during the day. It becomes a little annoying.
I’ll explain myself further. Here is a picture of my trailer, really there is no need to have these on during the day. Of course when it’s dark or inclement weather I will turn my lights on.

Are your truck tail lights also on during the day?

If yes, that is my guess as to the problem. As Buyer21 mentioned, it’s probably a Canada spec thing. Your truck could be forcing your taillights (and/or possibly running lights) to come on with the DRL’s.

I’m not an expert on changing Canadian DRL settings but my guess is if you play around with the existing documented DRL changes noted in the Forscan spreadsheet so only the front c-bars come on it might fix your problem. Essentially you’re looking to change what comes on with your DRL’s, not necessarily anything to do with the trailer.

Also, everything I wrote above could be wrong too but that’s where I would start.

This is the Forscan section is it not?
Yes, you've posted (appropriately, IMO) in the FORScan section of this F150gen14.com forum.

The link I provided is to a different 'global' forum run by FORScan.org, the creators of the software.

As I said, just for your consideration, it's a different resource for FORScan help, good luck.

Some members get emails with post subjects only and not the forum location and it's not obvious when in the forum.

No worries, you do / think what you want, I'll do / think what I want.

I'm ignoring the majority of this thread's off-topic kerfuffle.

My dad was a public high school industrial arts teacher from 1949 to 1971, one of the good ones. He taught me that even, and especially, 'garden variety angry little pricks' deserve a helping hand. Heaven knows he dealt with enough of them, and I know he improved some attitudes by doing that. So, out of respect for dad, and being an eternal optimist, that's my nature / habit in real-life and on forums.

That's fine, and that's what I did. Instead of letting help he didn't want just pass, he bit. There's a difference. My dad told me "angry little pricks" will be that way forever and to push back on bullies. In life and in a forum.

Hi everyone,
Is there a way to remove trailer lights always being on? I have a 21 Lariat and the trailer lights are automatically on during the day on the trailer.
hey, is your truck Canadian?

My 2021 Canadian truck does NOT turn on trailer lights during the day. Only when the headlights are on.

It must be Canadian spec. Unless I turn them off at the knob, all running lights, including the trailer, are on but as mentioned above, basically any change (opening the door etc.) resets the cycle, when a trailer is plugged in.

At first it annoyed me, at fuel stops, or to come from grocery shopping with the camper and see them lit. Incandescents, or halogens could drain the battery I suppose but as all of our lights are LEDs, it really isn't a big deal. Any long stop, I just unplug the trailer and the running lights go out per the timer.

As far as doing something for some period of yrs. with no problems ... Not every house with aluminum wiring burnt down either. GFI requirements are relatively new to the existing housing stock etc.

I used to have contractors tell me "Sonny, I've been doing it this way longer than you've been alive!". My response was, "Then you'd think you'd have it right by now."

Are you saying that because yours doesn’t? Because I’m on my second 2021 F150 and trailer lights turn on both of them as soon as you take the truck out of park. Maybe you should double check because I am 100% sure.

The issue is your DRL’s settings I bet.

Go into the easy mode of the BCM completely disable the DRL option just to test it. If that works, then all you would need to do is enable the c-bar LED’s only and it would be the same as an American spec.
