Hi everyone,
Is there a way to remove trailer lights always being on? I have a 21 Lariat and the trailer lights are automatically on during the day on the trailer.

We tow with a '21 XLT. When connected, the trailer running lights follow whatever the truck light switch does (it's usually set to Auto). Turn off the truck lights and the trailer lights go out. Open the truck door, the truck lights go on and so do the trailer's lights.

Trailer running lights are required by state law to be one even in the daytime. Could mean a ticket. Besides, it's a good idea to always keep them on for safety.

On my truck they do not go off even if I put the switch to off. Not every state requires trailer lights on at night. Thanks for the PSA but I’ve been driving a tractor trailer for 20+ years and millions of miles without having my trailer lights on a bright sunny day and haven’t had any accidents. I dont need to rely on my truck to be dummy proof and do things for me. If the road condtions call for the lights to be on I turn them on myself.
PS 2024 F150’s do not have this automatic trailer light on during the day option… hopefully no one dies because of this!!!

Acca-scuse me? Did you mean the DAY?

Are you blocking your light sensor on the dash that enables the automatic lights on the truck? I've seen this a time or two when someone throws a hat on the dash.

I've towed a ton with my truck and the lights are not on during the daytime unless I turn them on manually.

>Edit: I see you are Canadian. Does Canada require vehicle's lights to be on at all times when operating? Are you headlights and tail lights on when you are normally driving without a trailer?

Also wondering if this is a Canadian Ford 'feature', even if not 'required by law'

Unlike the OP, on my USA 2022 Lariat the trailer lights are only on when selected by manual switch setting or after dark when on 'auto'. IOW, they 'follow' the truck parking lights behavior (and I'm glad for that).

Some responses prove why answering posts is a waste of time.

Yes, I meant say my apology.
Not every truck is the same and yes my truck has forced DRL as do some other trucks in the states as well so yeah unfortunately turning the headlight knob to off does not change anything like I said. This is why I’m asking for a Forscan change on this

Yea, DRL headlights are mandatory in Canada but not taillights or trailer lights. Nor must trailers have DRL’s

Yeah, when you post asking a Forscan question and get a lecture it really doesn’t help. If you think about there is more than one Forscan mod that isn’t exactly legal or DOT approved.
If you don’t like the fact that I want to pull my trailer on a bright sunny day without my marker lights move on. Simple

Cool your jets, clown.

You don't like replies people took time to write in hopes they would help then you simply move on.

Holy shit, dude, try some decaf for crap sake!

Hey, I kind of understand. You don’t want the lights on if they don’t need to be on but, what is it really hurting? Why are you so adamant about getting the lights off on your trailer when you don’t have your lights on on your truck? What’s the big deal with them being on?

I’m not judging, I could really give a shit less if you have your trailer lights on or not but I am curious as to the why.

Holy shit! The first stop on the vacuous train — insult someone's stability, dude. Not at all unsurprising in this case where there's cluelessness that a thought that starts with "I'm not .... " means exactly the opposite, dude. You're transparent and a wholly unappealing shadow of a human being.

The currency for a civil conversation has been spent, dude. Not only do I not give a shit about curiosity that is nothing more than the feeble attempt at furthering an agenda, dude, but about the miscreant who spews bile. Dude.
