Love the Ecoboost. Power is there, and most issues were straightened out in the 2023 YM. Sounds good, nice and smooth, better power and mileage compared to V8. I have no issues with mine (low miles), but have two friends with raptors and another buddy with 65k on his 3.5 XLT and none of them have issues either.

I have lots of reasons to hate the 3.5 from a few awful 2017-2018 3.5 ecoboosts we've had (cracked valve covers, water pumps, and multiple phaser replacements on same engine). I also love the 2021+ 5.0L.

However the 2021 + 3.5 seems to be rock solid, all issues have been pretty much worked out. It gets the same mileage as the V8 when driven smoothly, but has absolutely killer torque the V8 doesn't.

Don't buy it purely for mileage though, the 2.7 is your ticket in that case. The 5.0 is also significantly more efficient than the 3.5 when pulling a trailer, albeit slower.

Adaptive Cruise control rocks.

I've changed oil on multiple Powerboosts (with the 3.5 ecoboost), and it was no sweat.

Just bought a 24 3.5 lariat. The EcoBoost has all the power you could really want. Fuel economy-wise, I used to drive a Prius which trained me really well in performing grandma like acceleration ? on the highway, cruising 75, I'm averaging 20.5-21 mpg with 87 octane. That's with 355 rear end gears.

Adaptive cruise and specifically Lane centering is amazing. My 2010 Prius had Lane keep assist which didn't really work that well. Lane centering drives the car pretty much like you would. Lane keep assist on my Prius would drive you more like a ping pong ball. Personally I find adaptive cruise and Lane centering to significantly reduce driver fatigue on the highway.

The nanny cam is running anytime you have Lane centering turned on and it will complain if you look away for longer than a few seconds.

So I went for a test drive in the truck with the 3.5. I didn't notice any difference puttering around town until I got onto the highway. The 3.5 seemed slower to spool up but once it was going nothing was stopping it.

Unfortunately, the dealer neglected to tell me that their offer of 0.99% financing and 17K below MSRP was 0.99% financing OR 17k below MSRP. I guess Ford is giving incentives out for cash buyers. They also lowballed my trade by 6k compared to two other dealerships... in sum my monthly payment for the new truck would have been double my current payment for the same truck with a different engine, paint job, and half the features.

The 2.7 lives another day (with an ESP). But I can see the appeal behind that 3.5.

I would love to. But there are almost none up here and they're all being sold at MSRP (Which is 17K CAD more than this 3.5)
Go with the 3.5. It will be fine.
