Needing a bunch of break in miles relatively soon, we drove down to Florida to see my wife's sister. Kill 3 birds with one stone. Visit relatives, get a little Bermuda shorts weather, and break in the new truck. Mission accomplished.
It rade like a champ going down. Felt like it floated over bad spots in the road. Actually, it felt like the ols Mercury Grand Marquis we used to have. Unfortunately, those soft shocks will have to go shortly. Doubt they will work as well when I hook the trailer up. Don't have the time to fix the shocks before our first scheduled camping trip, so the first time out, it will not tow so well. I may put a rear sway bar on the truck also.
This truck is extremely fast when getting up to speed. And that's without using much, if any boost. With the turbos spinning, it will fly.
I was super pleased with the gas mileage too. I know it's supposed to deliver good mileage, but if this 3.5L EcoBoost is anything like my old truck with the 1st generation EB, gas mileage falls of like it's going over s cliff when driving above 60 mph, and especially so if driving 70 mph. The speed limit is 70 mph over most of I-295, I-95 from Richmond to Orlando.
The last three measured fill ups, hand calculated yielded 19.22, 21.30, and 21.62 miles per gallon. I was using 87 octane each time.
So far, I am well pleased with the truck except for the shocks and tires, but it is early days yet, only 1965 miles so far.
