Am I being a moron?

For the life of me I cannot get the Ford supplied cleats to go into the boxlink brackets. Even tried a rubber hammer to get them in. No dice. They just will not slide up into the bracket.

what am I doing wrong?

Make sure it’s unlocked. The part that folds. Pull it out more towards you. Push the cleat up then push the locking folding part towards the bed and it should go. Then lock.

With my spray-in liner they were hard to install. I had to twist them back and forth as I was getting them to move up (or is it down) to install. Without the bed liner, yours should install easily. Like others said, make sure the lock is unlocked in the proper position to slide in.

Ok after a lot of swearing I managed to get them in. Trick appears to be to tilt it slightly. Was not an easy slot in.

Thanks all.

Rubber mallet did wonders for me. After a few times knocking them in and out I am able to take install and remove them fairly easily.

I had to take a file to one of mine. Three of them fit snugly. One just wasn't going in. I think it was the mold line causing the interference.

Removing the plate is not necessary to get them to slide in. (seems like more work)

The PDI guy (who I know) asked if I wanted them on. I said sure. He laughed and said about 50% bring the truck back to have them installed. I then told him I would do it to keep my man card lol.
A rubber mallet and Astroglide will get them right on.

I don't really get the point of boxlink. I kinda see the value in using the dimensionally similarish quick attachments found in most vans, but I just haven't seen that many accessories available. The stupid cleats are a distant second best to having actual tie down points drilled in, which all f150s have anyway. The system is actually pretty heavy too. I removed mine until I actually come up with a reason for it and it's gotta be like 10-15lbs altogether.

That's a lot of weight savings there. You think you will get a couple of MPG better now?

I put liquid soap on my Box Links first. Went right in. This sounds so risqué!
