"I think BlueCruise is basically a geolocation go/no-go switch for lane centering."My comments to a few posts here....
When employing the hands-free hack, use whatever weight you wish applied however you wish. Its easy removal is more important than its easy install. You're more likely going to need to remove it more quickly than to apply it quickly. I feel the hack shouldn't come off unless you remove it. A hook sure is easy to remove and install, but it could come off when you don't want it too. Unlikely but possible. It shouldn't interfere with the airbag either.
I'm not a Ford engineer (could you tell?). I imagine MY21, MY22, and MY23 trucks are going to self steer a little differently from one another. This could be due to hardware differences and/or software differences. I don't think BlueCruise does any steering at all. I think BlueCruise is basically a geolocation go/no-go switch for lane centering. Depending on the geolocation, either hands-free lane centering or hands-on lane centering is authorized. Lane centering does all the driving. If lane centering is given the thumbs up for either type of driving, it then looks at the road to see if it is okay to turn on. For example, is the lane visible, is the lane width okay - not too wide not not too narrow? BlueCruise is just a switch. I think your truck will drive the exact same way whether your using BlueCruise hands-free or using the hands-free hack. If you don't have BlueCruise, well then, your lane centering truck is only going to drive one way for sure. Even within model years, each truck will drive differently. I am perfectly confident in my truck's hands-free ability. I think it does equally well on BlueCruise hands-free and the hands-free hack.
That's an interesting perspective and got me thinking about why Ford didn't just add the BC technology as a standard feature on all F-150's above a certain trim. I know, chip shortages and different hardware goes into the mix, but if all the Lariats and above already had BC installed, then owners could try and buy; the same as most of us have for the AT&T hotspot, built-in maps and Sirius/XM. Could have generated more income in the long run to help offset Mr. Farley losing 3 Billion this year on the EV line.
