My comments to a few posts here....

When employing the hands-free hack, use whatever weight you wish applied however you wish. Its easy removal is more important than its easy install. You're more likely going to need to remove it more quickly than to apply it quickly. I feel the hack shouldn't come off unless you remove it. A hook sure is easy to remove and install, but it could come off when you don't want it too. Unlikely but possible. It shouldn't interfere with the airbag either.

I'm not a Ford engineer (could you tell?). I imagine MY21, MY22, and MY23 trucks are going to self steer a little differently from one another. This could be due to hardware differences and/or software differences. I don't think BlueCruise does any steering at all. I think BlueCruise is basically a geolocation go/no-go switch for lane centering. Depending on the geolocation, either hands-free lane centering or hands-on lane centering is authorized. Lane centering does all the driving. If lane centering is given the thumbs up for either type of driving, it then looks at the road to see if it is okay to turn on. For example, is the lane visible, is the lane width okay - not too wide not not too narrow? BlueCruise is just a switch. I think your truck will drive the exact same way whether your using BlueCruise hands-free or using the hands-free hack. If you don't have BlueCruise, well then, your lane centering truck is only going to drive one way for sure. Even within model years, each truck will drive differently. I am perfectly confident in my truck's hands-free ability. I think it does equally well on BlueCruise hands-free and the hands-free hack.
"I think BlueCruise is basically a geolocation go/no-go switch for lane centering."

That's an interesting perspective and got me thinking about why Ford didn't just add the BC technology as a standard feature on all F-150's above a certain trim. I know, chip shortages and different hardware goes into the mix, but if all the Lariats and above already had BC installed, then owners could try and buy; the same as most of us have for the AT&T hotspot, built-in maps and Sirius/XM. Could have generated more income in the long run to help offset Mr. Farley losing 3 Billion this year on the EV line.

At the rate things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if tesla owns ford in 5 years time. Musk has a fondness for the brand, even naming big projects after some of ford's history / legacy. Things are going to get a lot worse for ford before they get better. Tesla has profit margins that are about to jump again due to new battery tech they're bringing online -- nobody in the industry comes anywhere close to what they're capable of as an auto business. Legacy auto has too much baggage to survive the next 4 years without significant changes and taxpayer money.

I'm on the Ford Canada site and for whatever reason trying to build a new 2023 and there is no BlueCruise option. Am I missing anything here? Has Ford removed BlueCruise from the 2023+?

Only on the F150 Lariat and up you’ll be able to find the option

I saw something similar, but with the Lightning.
It appears that my reservation has come up and I have until April 12 to turn it into an official order. When I messed around in the build tools it was obvious that 2.0 assist is in play, either as an option or standard, depending on trim & packages.
I couldn't find 2.0 active? Bizarre?

Maybe I'm just missing something.

I will say that my desire for what I originally wanted in a Lightning hasn't waned a bit. But what a difference between when I made the reservation and what I can actually build today!

I wanted the Barebones Pro standard range. Yea, the $40k Lightning.
If not, I wanted the same exact thing in extended range, once Ford made it clear that their $40k press was not real unless you are a fleet buyer. So $47k

Well, go look. ???

Pro starts at $60k now. STANDARD RANGE battery! Doesn't even have the real ProPower??

Nope. That's too big of a sting.

I'm not crying though.
I have no problem with my KingRanch Powerboost. (Although my plan was to have both) I was very fortunate to get in just before the constraints. It's EXACTLY what I ordered and with the ~7k discount off MSRP, it's a much better value equation.

Man how things have changed since the Lightning was revealed.

Ouch! I was interested in the lightning, too. But I’m perfectly happy with what I have, so I can wait.

Yep. It's beyond sad what they've been doing lately. A big battery pro model and 2 weeks of work w/ part sourcing could have turned it into a helluva truck. I'm up to some things right now that I'll reveal once I've finalized the deals (no, not a new vehicle).

I won't buy another new ford until I see some real direction change that shows they're actually understanding the market. They clearly don't understand market (actual customer) needs and are misinterpreting reservations. I didn't get shorted on the deletes -- those were a hard-stop on the purchase I was going to make (different truck) -- but the fact they're deleting some pretty expensive retrofit parts on trims they're still raising prices of... c'mon man.

and the killing of the PHEV boost, man that really makes me mad. THAT was the truck us PBers needed. It's the only thing I would replace the current one with. Even with a measly 30 miles per 3hrs of charge plus the ability to tow would have been HUGE, especially for those of us who can charge at the office (or other destination). They've already got all of the parts on other vehicles to boot. We just needed a slightly larger 20kWh batt.

I can't explain how excited I was to BELIEVE that Ford was going to build a $40,000 electric F150.

I didn't care that it would be "stripped" because stripped is relative VS the ICE F150 XL.

So my number finally gets drawn this week and the very same truck is 50% more expensive. Literally. No exaggeration.

Also, based on my reservation being in the range of 150,000? My turn should NOT be up already. Ford hasn't even built 1/3 that many Lightnings yet.
That would indicate the conversion of reservations to orders has tanked?

I'm probably hashing old news on the Lightning forum? I've never visited it.

Congrats on easily achieving the 8,000 reaction score level! You wanna get to 10K in one easy step? Start a flame war over at the Lightning forum. ?

I'm not a flame thrower by nature, although I love me a good oil thread!

Can the Lightning use Amsoil?

Wouldn't surprise me to hear people are skipping out on reservations when they've jacked up the prices as much as they have. Driving for 2 hours and charging for 1 isn't very practical either so people that need a truck to do truck things at any sort of realistic distance is out the window. Cybertruck can't come soon enough. No, I have no desire for the ugly thing, I just want to watch them slap ford over the head with it like they did with their price drops on their other vehicles. That move against the MME was beautiful.

Ford lost 20k$ avg per EV they sold last year while tesla was pocketing over $10k. They refuse to get in the game so they're being forced to. I hope for the sake of the brand they pivot, and pivot fast. Otherwise I'm game for someone with more business and tech sense taking them over to trim the fat.

My only defense of the today's price for the Pro VS the introductory price is that the it's now obvious that the $40k, BEFORE tax credits, was completely unrealistic.
Logic was telling me so, but I wanted it to be true.

If you look at what you get for EV dollars these days, the current price makes way more sense.

I bet the few, very few, very very few that DID get a Pro when the first batch of Lightnings were built/sold? They must be pinching themselves!

I know I would be.
